A Man in Pursuit of Power

After their encounter with Team Magma (only Cora knew), the gang finally arrived in Petalburg City.

"Petalburg City." Cora said.

"We're finally here." Mairin added.

"Espe." Kilala said.

"Let's stop at the Pokémon Center first and get some supplies first." Alain suggested.

"Okay." Cora and Mairin agreed.

After getting their Pokémon checked up and getting some supplies, the gang soon arrived at the Petalburg Gym. It was built as a Japanese house.

"I wonder if anyone is here?" Mairin pondered.

"Hey who are you?" A young male voice called out.

Cora turned to the voice and saw a boy about seven years old, with blue-green hair and he was wearing glasses. Cora knew that he's Max, May's younger brother.

"Wait a minute, I know you! You're Cora Joy, the winner of both the Kanto and Silver Conference!" Max beamed with excitement.

Cora chuckled at his excitement, "That's me."

"Unbelievable! I'm seeing the youngest Conference winner in front of me." Max said with stars in his eyes. Then he noticed Alain, "No way! You're Alain Sycamore! Winner of the Lumiose Conference!"

"So who are you?" Mairin asked.

"My name is Max and I'm the gym leader of this gym." Max declared proudly with his hands on his hips.

"You're lying." Cora stated.

Max flinched.

"Huh? Really?" Mairin questioned.

"I believe the gym leader's name is Norman." Cora corrected.

"Besides, you're too young to be a gym leader." Alain added.

It was at that moment that two adults and a brown-haired girl came to the window, with smiles on their faces. Cora recognized them as Norman and his wife, Caroline along with May, their daughter.

"Well now, what do we have here?" Norman chuckled.

"Why, hello there!" Caroline giggled.

"Um, who are you guys?" Mairin asked.

Max nervously laughed as Cora, Alain and Mairin came into the Gym, gesturing to them at one corner at the Gym.

"Mom, dad, this is Cora Joy and Alain Sycamore. They're conference winners!" Max beamed, "Cora, Alain, this is my mom, dad, and my older sister, May. My dad is the gym leader!"

And so, May and her family invited Cora, Alain and Mairin to have lunch with them and they accepted the offer.

"So you three have traveled through the Kanto, Orange Islands and Johto Region for three years, correct Cora?" Caroline asked.

"Yes, I started my journey when I was ten. Alain and Mairin had joined me when I first started." Cora replied.

"Must be so cool to travel." Max whined.

Cora, Alain and Mairin chuckled at that.

"So you'll be heading out to get your starter Pokémon, May?" Cora asked.

"Yeah, but I don't know which one I'll choose though." May replied.

"I'm sure you'll make a good decision." Cora assured her.
