Cora and the gang were training along a beach on another part of Dewford Island. Brock, Ash and Max were jogging along the beach, with Brock being in charge. But May, not being a fan of sports, wasn't enjoying herself. Cora, Alain and Mairin were training with their Pokémon. Cora's Caria (Wurmple) and Mairin's Choko (Wurmple) had both evolved into Silcoon's.

Suddenly Brock stopped in his steps, "Okay guys, hold up."

Ash, Max and May stopped behind Brock as Cora, Alain and Mairin walked up to Brock.

"Something wrong, Brock?" Cora asked.

"Someone's up there!" Brock pointed ahead on a cliff where they saw a man climbing up the edge of a cliff.

"Hey, you're right." May commented.

"I think that's Prof. Birch." Cora stated.

"You think so?" Ash asked.

"Why don't we find out?" Brock suggested.

The gang walked closer to where Prof. Birch was.

"Wonder why he's up there like that?" May asked.

"Maybe he's studying a certain Pokémon?" Max questioned.

Prof Birch was looking at a Wingull's nest. Unfortunately for him, the Wingull was not happy with him peering in her nest, and it pecked at him until he fell off the cliff. Cora's eyes glowed blue and Prof. Birch was outlined blue. He closed his eyes for incoming pain. But he didn't feel any pain. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was floating. Then he was placed gently on his feet. He soon heard running footsteps coming towards him and turned in the direction of them to see Cora and her friends running up to him.

"Professor!" May called.

"You alright?!" Max added.

"I'm fine." Prof. Birch assured the siblings as the gang stopped in front of him.

"Good thing Cora used her psychic abilities to stop your fall." Mairin commented.

"That was you, Cora?" Prof. Birch asked.

Cora nodded, "Yup." She confirmed.

"Thank you for stopping my fall." Prof. Birch thanked her.

"By the way, what were you doing up there?" Ash questioned.

"I was studying a Wingull's nest. Wingull's build nests on the edge of cliffs." Prof. Birch explained.

"Ah I understand," Cora understood, "It's your way of studying Pokémon and their habitats, right?"

"That's correct;" Prof Birch confirmed, "the best way to study Pokémon is to be up close where the action is instead of seeing them from a distance, that's my opinion."

"It's Prof. Oak's opinion as well." Cora said.

"My dad has the same opinion too." Alain added.

"So tell me, what brings you all here?" Prof. Birch asked.

"We were doing some training for the Dewford Gym." Ash replied.

"I see," Prof. Birch understood, "and how has your journey been so far?"

"It has been fantastic!" Max exclaimed, and he started to talk about what he and the others had gone through so far and the new Pokémon they had captured. Mairin also stepped in and told them about their adventures so far as well.

"Wow you kids seem to have got into quite a few adventures," Prof. Birch smiled, "and I hope you are in the mood for an adventure today."

"What kind of adventure?" Mairin asked.
