Jesus Christ, I am exhausted.

The weight of everything that has happened lately is finally starting to set on me. We're still at Harry's house. Max is still asleep on the floor. I think he's pretty exhausted too. Kay and Harry are making breakfast.

I just gave Megan a bath and I'm doing her hair now.

"Are you Max's mom?" Megan asked as I brushed through her hair. I laughed softly.

"No, he's my brother." I started a French braid on the top of her head.

"So why doesn't he live with his mom or dad?" I honestly loved how curious Megan was. That means she hasn't seen the cruelty of the world quite yet.

"Well, Max and I's parents aren't very nice. So now that I'm an adult, Max can live with me so that I can be nicer to him." I finished both of her braids, putting them into two pigtails. The half-up braids were her favorite hairstyle.

"So you and Harry will be like his new mom and dad." I smiled.

"Well, it will just be me and Max at my new apartment, but Harry will still be a big part of it. But we aren't living together." She nodded and sighed.

"Why can't you just live with Harry? He has a mansion!" She threw her hands down by her side. I laughed loudly.

"That's a big step, Meg." I grabbed her shoulders and lead her out into the living room. Max was finally awake, rubbing his eyes on the couch. "Go see how breakfast is coming on along," I tapped Megan's back and she skipped down the hallway.

"Hey Max," I sat down next to him, wrapping my arm around him. "Did you sleep well?" I lightly squeezed him.

"Yeah," He sighed, leaning into me. "This couch is comfy." I chuckled at his remark.

"It is." I settled on the couch. "They're making your favorite breakfast." I looked over at him. He shot up and raised his eyebrows.

"Blueberry pancakes and over-easy eggs?" I waited a few moments before slowly nodding. "No way!" He jumped up from the couch and sprinted down the hallway. I laughed as I stood up from the couch and made my way to the kitchen.

I heard Harry laugh loudly.

"Okay, okay!" I walked into the kitchen as Harry quickly loaded up a plate for Max. Max yanked the plate off the table and ran to the dining table.

"This just might be the best day ever." I laughed and bumped my hip into Harry. "Thank you for doing this."

"Just want him to know he's loved when he's around us." He smiled lightly and pressed a soft kiss on the side of my head. My heart melted a little. Such a simple gesture put the biggest smile on Max's face.

But those simple gestures mean a lot when you were raised by someone who's never even gotten close to the bare minimum.

"Alright!" Kay clapped her hands. "Breakfast is served." She handed me and Harry plates. She set Megan's plate on the table.

We all sat down with Max as he was shoving his pancakes into his mouth. When he saw us all sit, he paused.

"Crap." He squeezed his eyes shut and put his fork down. "I forgot to pray." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I didn't know you prayed, buddy." Everyone looked at him with a smile.

"Well, I started praying when Mom started being mean. I prayed that I would get to see you again and clearly, it worked. So can we pray?" His cheeks started turning red.
