Sadie's POV
"Meg has your mother taught you nothing about stranger danger?" I grabbed Megan's hand and walked back over to the park bench.
I heard a snicker beside me and I rolled my eyes.
"Harry it is not funny she could've gotten kidnapped," I swatted his leg as Megan ran back towards the playground.
"It was an innocent question," Harry smiled widely as he watched Megan play.
"Going up to strangers and asking them if she can go home with them is not innocent," I scoffed as Harry continued to laugh.
"She sounds like a homeless child," I couldn't help but laugh remembering the look on the poor old man's face.
"You're being overprotective," Harry shook his head and smiled. His sunglasses were perched on his nose. He watched Megan play like it was his own daughter.
He'd be a great father.
I couldn't ever have kids of my own. It's not that I don't want kids, I'm just so scared. I'm scared that I'll end up like my father.
I've talked to Kay about it and she said I'd be a great mom because of how well I treat Megan. My dad was so nice to the few people I invited over. That's why no one expected any of it. Every time that I tried to get help they would say I did it for attention. And then I'd lose my friends.
If I ever have a kid I'm done drinking of course. I'm not an alcoholic but I'm not risking that.
"Sadie," I heard Harry coo my name. "You alright? Lost you there for a second," Harry nudged me with his elbow.
"Yeah yeah," I blinked a few times and ran my hands down my face. "Just thinking," I shook my head and leaned forward on my elbows.
"Want to talk about it?" Harry furrowed his eyebrows.
"No no it's fine I promise," I shook my head. I tried my best to put on a convincing smile.
"Alright," Harry narrowed his eyes at me, clearly not buying it.
I watched Harry look back at the playground. He furrowed his eyebrows so I looked over at what he was looking at.
Right as I looked over Megan missed a step on the okay ground and fell onto the ground.
"And she's down," Harry slapped his knees and pushed himself up. He jogged over to Megan and held out his hand.
"Nope don't cry," He tried to encourage her. "Look not even a scrape," He wiped a few wood chips of if her pants. Megan looked up at Harry with tears in her eyes and nodded.
"Harry I don't want to play anymore," She looked at the ground and shook her head. "Can we go see Margaret?" She looked back up at him and squinted in the sun light.
"I think we can do that," He nodded and looked at me. I shrugged my shoulders to tell him I didn't care. "Do you want to ride in my shoulders?" He smiled widely and wiggled his eyebrows up and down.
Megan jumped up and down nodding her head. He picked her up by the waist and lifted her above his head.
She laughed loudly and grabbed two pieces of his long hair, pulling them like he was a horse.
