【Hajime's Pov】
I sat on a bench outside the room. 25 hours. 25 hours of operation. I wasn't there the entire time, but I was there most. I was exhausted. I won't even know if it truly worked until she woke up. Yeah she was alive, but was it her? I bent down, with my hand on my head. What if this was the biggest waste of time and myself I could have done? A pair of brown shoes neared me, causing me to look up.
"Hajime? You're out! Finally, are you alright?" He white haired boy sat next to me.
"Yeah...I-I'm fine. Just-" I cut myself off with a yawn, "Really, really tired." I sighed.
"I could take you home, if you'd like." He put his arm around my shoulders.
"Yeah, I'd like that." I smiled at my boyfriend. He stood up in front of me and stuck his hand out. I heaved myself up and walked outside of the janky hospital hand in hand with Nagito.
"Did it go well?" He turned to me.
"She's...she's alive." My voice was a whisper.
"Well that's great! Wow, Hajime, you're a-" I cut him off with my finger.
"That really doesn't mean much. She could die soon anyway, even if she didn't it...might still be Hiyoko." I spoke unsurely.
"Hajime, it doesn't matter who it is, or how long they'll be here. You've done the impossible! You've brought somebody back from the dead! You're so radiant with hope that you've beaten the epitome of hopeless! That's something you should be proud of yourself for." He grabbed my shoulders, a wide, delighted and encouraging smile across his face.
"...I guess so." I shrugged and tried to smile back at him, but it was more uneasy and tense.
"Hajime, I'm serious! If you're not proud of yourself, then I sure am. Though, that shouldn't mean much coming from someone like me." I responded with a sigh at his degradation.
"I guess you're right." I looked down at my shoes.
Nagito sighed and let go of my shoulders, walking beside me as we continued to our cabins.
"You doubt yourself too much, Hajime." He had a sad, disappointed expression.
"I could say the same to you." I turned my head towards him.
He stopped walking for a moment, putting a finger to his lips in thought, "Ah, I have an idea! How about we remind each other when we doubt ourselves, so we lose the habit? I know that's quite selfish of me to ask you to-"
"That's a great idea, Nagito!" I turned and grabbed his hand, cutting him off.
"Really? It just came to mind and I thought I would say it." He drifted his eyes away nervously.
"Really. Now let's head to the cottage, I'm tired." I yawned, dragging him behind me as I started speed walking to my cabin.
"Ah-! Hajime!" He yelled, nearly tripping behind me, "Shouldn't I go to my own cabin?" He stopped walking, taking a moment to catch his breath.
"Not if you don't want to." I stopped, keeping his hand in mine as I turned to face him.
"Alright..." He trailed off, walking towards my cottage.
I sped up to my door, fumbling with my key before opening it to my, still bland as ever, room. I stepped inside until I felt a hand grip my shoulder.
"Hajime remember, I'm proud of you and all your accomplishments." Nagito looked into my eyes with a serious face.
"Thank you, Nagito. I'm proud of you too."
