- Abbie's POV -

"B-but how?" was the only question going through my head. I felt like I didn't even know her anymore.

I seen Skye's mouth open to speak, just as the paramedic slammed the mask on her face.

"She was talking! What the hell are you doing!" I shouted.

"I'm sorry. We don't have time. Miss Mitchell is in a very critical condition." and with that she started wheeling the stretcher to the ambulance.

My best friend might be pregnant.

I can't believe she's going to have to go through this, at 17. I mean, she wouldn't get an abortion.. would she?

I realised i was lost in my own thoughts when Matt's voice interrupted them.

"I think we just have to drive.." I looked at him with a blank expression.
"To the hospital.." He finished, almost sarcastically.

"Oh, yeah. Okay, erm, sorry." I checked my phone before walking out to the car.

No missed calls.

No messages.

Yep, it's official.

Samuel Hastings hates me.

----------------------------------------

I was waiting in the car, shivering, and hoping that Matt would hurry up - I was freezing.
There were still a few paramedics around the house and I could see Matt's head in amongst them as he started walking to the car.

Cue the awkwardness.

"Hi" he smiled, whilst climbing into the car.

I smiled back at him, my whole body tensing up. A car ride with Matt. Could I do this, really? I realised Matt was staring at me and I shot him a glare.

"Are you going to drive or what?" I said, more harsh than I was expecting.

He looked away, cheeks flushed with embarrassment. He turned on the engine and then the cars heating, along with the radio and the airbags, as if he was expecting us to crash.
Oh dear god.

"S-so. Erm, did you, you know? Tell Skye?" he asked, eyes focused on the road. I looked up at him and I remembered how gorgeous he was, still is. His eyes were an amazing shade of green, and his hair was a mess but it was a hot mess.

"Abbie?"

"Matt, can you promise me something?" I asked, hope in my eyes, as well as my heart. I felt like I was going too fast. I spent the last year ignoring his calls and messages.

"Depends, what is it?" he chuckled.

His laugh.

I pinched myself, trying to re-focus.

"Promise me you won't tell Skye. Promise me you won't tell her we lost the baby" I said, my voice started to fade while tears filled my eyes.

He gave me a sympathetic look and put his hand over mine. It must've been hard to drive with one hand, but being Matt, he managed.

"I promise, Abbie. But what did you tell her?"

At least it wasn't awkward anymore. I think things could actually be okay between me and Matt.

"I- I told her I got an abortion.." I whispered, dropping my head in shame.

Matt sensed my embarrassment and pulled into the hospital car park. After turning the engine off, he turned his full attention to me.
