Since the beginning (pt. 3)

Vada's pov:

I retreat back to my room. I'm too tired to deal with Amelia. I'm to drained and numb to really deal with anything...

I start scrolling through Instagram until I stumble across Mia's account. I don't follow her but I often look at her pictures. Funny how the only time me and her really interact was during a shooting. I see one of her old dance pictures and zoom in to get a better look. God, she really is pretty. I decide to send her a quick DM with my actual number in it. I nervously bite my lip as I copy her number into my phone. We continue talking and she tells me that she heard  's brother died. It's so crazy to think people actually died and that we could've been one of them.

Me:
-'my parents don't even know how to talk about it'
-'I feel so scared to do anything'

Mia:
-'my parents are in Japan rn. I'm like scared to leave my bedroom lol'

I don't know why but when I read that message I smile a bit. Only Mia Reed, the school goddess, could make me smile when I'm at my lowest. After talking a bit more Mia invites me over to her place for tomorrow. Of course I eagerly accept. It's just a friendly visit of course, since we've gone through something together. Just a check up. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mia's pov:

I smile as I look down at my texts with Vada. I'm so glad she decided to message me, id been debating on it all day. For supposedly being popular my phone has been surprisingly dry since everything...my dads are gone and I've never felt so alone. Vada...vada helps me feel less lonely. I think we really understand each other.

Vada's pov:

-"so how's Nick been doing?"
My mom asks as we're driving.
-"hm? Oh I...I think he's doing ok"
I reply. My mom raises a good question though. I haven't really talked to Nick since everything but I can only assume he's been ok. After all, I'm my last texts with him, he said he was fine but just needed time to process and come to terms with what happened.
-"what about you?...how are YOU feeling?"
She asks. I nod my head.
-"I'll be ok mom"
I reply. She smiles and nods a bit as we continue our drive.

Once we get back home I decide to chill on the couch for a bit. As I'm scrolling insta I see a video of Mia doing her dance stuff and decide to text her.

Me:
-'wyd?'

Mia:
-'nothing much'
-'did you still wanna come over one of these days?'

I look down at my phone for a sec.
-"...mom! I'm going to Nicks"
I yell, grabbing my bag and walking out of the house.

Me:
-'totally'
-'how's rn sound?'

Mia:
-'perfect! See ya soon'
-'just text me when you get here so I can unlock the door'
