Wolfwood briefly glances at the blond in his arms, who had all but strangled him with a vice-like grip, before unceremoniously dropping him on the ground, having pried him off like the blood-sucking leech he was at heart. Vash, now centered on the ground in front of Wolfwood's stupid loafers, gaped up at him with disdain. His hand came up to rub at his back and he let out a pitiful "ouchies".

"Hey buddy, it's important we stick together in this situation! Anything could happen, I just talked to a ghost," Vash's low whine would've caught Wolfwood more off guard had he not suddenly felt the presence clinging to his leg like a kid in Walmart.

Wolfwood started furiously shaking his leg, as much as he could with the weight of the male counterpart, his arms awkwardly squared at his sides. It was too dark to properly see where anything was. The cigarette between his teeth began to messily tear as his jaw clenched.

"Hey, needle-noggin? Aren't you the same one who would take any opportunity to fight me? Yeah, what happened to that?" Wolfwood's voice leaked with both confusion and a hint of venom.

A mock gasp. Vash poked at Wolfwood's thigh. "Desperate times call for desperate situations, pal, I'm just making sure we all stay alive here."

"We're doing great, thanks for asking," Meryl called from a corner off in the distance.

Through the commotion, Milly managed to separate herself from Meryl's side, wandering off into the blackened apartment on her own. The occasional hums of some random tune were the only indication that the low ruffling in the background was her. Meryl paid no attention.

"See? Everyone's fantastic. Besides, we've been through so much together, excuse me for being able to let go of some of my anger." Vash's cheek pressed up against Wolfwood's knee as his legs crossed behind him, further constricting himself around his leg, fully seated on his foot. "Try to find a light if you can, I'll help as much as I can from here."

Meryl perked up as she removed her gaze from her camera, which was still pointed at the two. "Yeah about "going through so much together"- I think you're bound to share at some point-"

"Not happening," both men responded simultaneously. Both also paused, and even though neither of them could see, they knew each was staring at the other. Vash pondered for a moment, truly, what it was that had changed between them. Things were starting to get muddled, and he had truly given up on fully separating every "I'm potentially interested"-action away from Wolfwood.

Maybe it was because he had actually paid his rent this month? Both having to hide from Meryl? Whatever it was, he was beginning to feel a slight unease, his stomach twisting into knots.

           Why had he changed?

Vash's thoughts for a split-second crash landed into the idea that he might actually like the guy, but he squashed it just as quickly, his facial expression morphing into one of disgust. Absolutely not. Vash didn't really do feelings. Well, he mostly just got rejected a lot, and while he had laughed his way through most, his roommate? That was an entirely different story.
