AWAY

Today, I was on a high. I just got a raise from my job, and this weekend, my boyfriend and I are going for a little getaway.

I stared at the picture on my phone of the beautiful cabin we were staying in. It was the perfect place to celebrate our one year anniversary.

"Have fun this weekend," my work bestie said as she left.

"Thanks, you too."

The clock finally hit 5:00 pm. It was time to go. I texted Antonio, letting him know I was on my way home.

Okay, I'm picking up some wine...then I'll meet you there.

A smile formed on my face as I pulled out of my job's parking lot. I plugged in my aux cord and sang to the music blasting through my car speakers.

"I ain't even gonna froooont, I ain't even gonna liiiiiiiie. Since you walked up in the cluuuuub, I've been giving you the eyyyyyye...."

It was sunny and beautiful outside, and I got excited to see how magical the lake was going to look under the bright moon.

Once I got home, I changed into some comfy clothes and put my bag near the front door.

"Hey babe, are you ready?" Antonio asked, coming inside.

"Yup, let me grab my jacket."

He walked up, then kissed my lips. I stared into his dark blue eyes, and my excitement grew.

"We should go skinny dipping tonight."

I laughed. "No way..."

I grabbed my house keys and purse while he grabbed my bag. It took us an hour to get to the cabin. There were pretty flowers and trees surrounding the property with a big lake in the distance.

We went inside the cabin, quickly getting settled in. I cooked us some cajun shrimp pasta. We sat near the fireplace eating and drinking wine.

"It is really beautiful here. This was a great find."

"Yeah, I knew you would like it."

"You did?"

"Of course. All those romance movies and books you read. This was right up your alley."

I smiled because he was right. Romance, fairy tales, and love stories were definitely my go-to genres.

"Violet, I love you. You know that, right?"

"Yes. I love you too."

Antonio pulled me close, kissing my lips. Within minutes, we were making love on the soft rug in front of the same fireplace.

Afterward, he convinced me to go swimming in the lake naked. I figured you only live once. Why not try it. The moon was shining in the night sky, reflecting on the lake.

All of it was beautiful until I stepped into the water. It was freaking cold, but I still went in deeper.

I swam towards him, and we playfully kissed each other. He picked me up and threw me in a few times, causing me to laugh hysterically.

"Before I found this place, I was going to take you skiing."

"Skiing seriously?"

"Yeah, I figured it would be something new that you've never done before."

"Ant, you know I don't like the cold."

"Yeah, but I would've warmed you up."

"Oh really?" I smiled.
