A new day meant a fresh start to something great. My optimism was beginning to grow along with my curiosity of Mr. Nishimura.

His eyes resembled a reptile at one point, and his physical ability was not of the average human. My mind wouldn't let it go. I wasn't seeing things, I'm not crazy.

I walked into the conference at 9:18 a.m. My coffee is in one hand with my notepad and pen in the other. I wore a burgundy skirt suit with a cream blouse and burgundy heels...it made me feel professional and feminine.

"You're early..."

Rin walked in, and I got excited.

"Yes, I am. How are you?"

"I'm well. You look refreshed."

"I am."

I got up and hooked up the projector while he stood sipping his coffee. He looked out the window, and I couldn't stop myself from staring at him.

"Did you get the email with the presentation for the meeting?"

"Oh...no, I didn't."

Rin just stared at me, and I got the hint. I hurried to my office and printed out the information to make pamphlets. He sent the email at 9:18 a.m....go figure.

After printing, making 40 copies and stapling them together, it was 9:37 a.m. when I walked back into the conference room.

"Glad you finally made it, Ms. Edwards."

Rin looked unimpressed as I handed out pamphlets. The other attendees just smirked or chuckled, and I ignored them.

The meeting went smoothly with everyone on board with Mr. Nishimura's plan for growth and new clients.

"Thank you all for your contributions and open minds for growth and expansion. I look forward to an amazing year and continuing Mr. Zen's legacy."

Everyone clapped while I watched how charming and well-spoken Rin was while giving his presentation. Once everyone got up, I did the same.

"Ms. Edwards...stay."

My footsteps stopped... I felt like I was in trouble with the school principal.

"Why weren't you prepared this morning?"

"Rin, I'm sorry..."

He corrected me. "Mr. Nishimura."

I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Mr. Nishimura."

"Do you like being a personal assistant?"

I smiled. "Yes, being Mr. Zen's assistant was lovely and peaceful."

"Don't get cute with me, Ms. Edwards."

My smile went away. "I wasn't trying to be... Sir."

"You need to be prepared and ready at any time. If I can't depend on you, Ms. Edwards..."

"You can. You have my word."

He sat at the table, looking at some paperwork. I felt like a failure and decided to walk away to avoid any more back and forth. Then I stopped, hoping the man who held me yesterday was still there.

"Um, Mr. Nishimura. I want to thank you for last night. I really appreciate you helping me."

His eyes looked at me. "Make sure you bring the Vetnor files to my office before your break."

And just like that....he was back to being an asshole.

"Yes, Sir."

I walked out, holding my tongue.
