As Gorou finally made his way back to Bourou Village, he soon walked to his house's door and opened it. He was expecting something nice, like Itto waiting for him to talk about the date, or perhaps Itto finding a new Onikabuto he wants to show him, but instead, his heart was shattered into pieces.
Itto was packing his stuff like he's about to leave. Gorou's heart skipped a beat in fear as he finally spoke up.
"Itto?! What are you–"
"Oh, hey General." Itto waved at him naturally as he zipped his bag. "Sorry about the sudden leaving. I got my vision back finally so... I don't need to stay here any longer."
"B-but–"
Gorou glanced at his neck to see his vision glowing brightly. He was confused. He couldn't understand a word. Why would Kujou Sara hand it to him so easily? And since when does he have that? Did he have it the whole time? Was he that blind to not notice it on the date?
"I stole it from the statue and no one noticed it soooo..." Itto grinned proudly as he placed the bag on his back.
"But you cannot leave!" Gorou yelled up, he felt like the world was shattering around him.
The oni stopped as he looked deep into the general's eyes where tears started forming.
"Huh? Why not?"
"Because you promised us you will fight with us! The war has begun and you are already leaving just like that?!" Gorou yelled from the top of his lungs.
He knew well that everyone could hear them, he just didn't care at all at the moment. For some reason, he felt a terrible pain in his chest. It was like as if he is about to lose everything that is precious to him. He didn't want it. He tried to fight it with all his might.
"Chill out, General. I might be strong and an oni but we both know I'm not the fighting type. You want me to fight with bugs or what?" Itto rolled his eyes a bit, it was unknown if he was joking or not.
"I don't care what you fight with as long as you stand by your word and stay with us. With me." at this point, tears started flowing down on Gorou's face nonstop.
Itto kept silent for a second before finding his words.
"I don't get what your issue is. You clearly never cared. You were so busy the whole time." he crossed his arms as he went on. "And I never even promised anything in the first place. I was dragged here without my will because of your little deal. You could have just kept me in jail instead."
Gorou wiped his tears a bit as he thought of what Itto said.
"I thought we're friends..." he murmured under his breath, barely being able to say a word.
"Well..." Itto looked away for a second. "I want to go back to my gang and date your sister. I cannot do any of these if I fight in a war."
"My sister..." Gorou repeated these words silently as he looked into the oni's eyes. "So it was just about Miss Hina, huh...? Never about friendship. Nothing."
"General, I think you are crazy." Itto raised one of his eyebrows in confusion. "I have never said that. I just said I wanna date her."
It seemed like even after everything, Itto was dense. He still couldn't see the truth. He was living in a lie.
"This is ridiculous... What was I even thinking...?" Gorou slowly looked down onto his now shaking hands.
His vision was blurry due to the tears and he felt extremely weak. Everything was too much for him. The war, Itto leaving... He found himself dizzy.
