The passageway swallowed the four rangers, pitch-blackness obscuring their vision.

The lack of sight was unnerving, and the team suppressed their instinctive urges to flee, instead trailing their hands along the rough stone walls, traveling further into the unwelcoming unknown.

The space was rather narrow, the barriers closing in on the trespassing group with menace. Without the warmth of daylight, an eerie chill radiated through the dank air.

Along with unease came the doubt they had been suppressing.

Setting aside the worry of failure, did Pascal even have a power source? They assumed so, but the answer wasn't written in stone, nor was it impossible for the lizard to have received his powers from something indestructible.

Yet the stakes were too high, and they had no time to rethink their decision. They still stood a chance now. However, the possibility of winning would be reduced to a near zero if the villains' received successful upgrades.

They all agreed on keeping silent, with only metalclad heels leaving barely audible clinks, wandering deeper into the void of silence.

That was, until Anna's voice drifted through their earpieces, and the quietness suddenly seemed so dear.

(Author's note: This love triangle is a pretty rare and complicated situation, written for dramatic purposes. I personally don't think any of them is 100% percent right or wrong in this situation. My dear readers can just read it for fun, you can all have different opinions and don't have to judge things in real life by my book scenes. <3 )

"So, I assume you already know me." The spiteful tone was clearly directed at Ipas.

"I do." The spy's reply was audible as well, courtesy of the futuristic technology.

Outside the entrance, the two rangers of contrasting colors crouched as far from each other as possible, while reluctantly sharing the single tablet.

"Volt told you, didn't he?" Anna questioned casually, tapping the flickering screen with gloved fingertips. "Has he also told you......"

"Were you dating?" Ipas cut straight to the point, meeting her eyes. "It was simply...a mutual crush, wasn't it?"

Anna drew her hand into a fist.

A sudden bang, followed by Max's yelp, interrupted the standoff. The white ranger quickly tore her gaze from Ipas's, seeing the yellow dot (indicating Max's position) had unfortunately clashed with a protruding section of a wall, clearly outlined with bright cyan.

Realizing they had forgotten their roles, Anna muttered a quick apology under her breath. "To your right," she instructed, guiding the yellow ranger away from the cluster of stone.

"He moved on," Ipas continued. "Perhaps you also need to."

"He made me fall for him," Anna swiveled on her, a mocking laugh in her voice. "He pursued for my affections, I gave it to him, and he moved on?"

It was Ipas's turn to be silent.

The relationship between Volt and Anna could be indeed described as a mutual crush. But Volt had inch by inch warmed Anna's heart, only to move on. It was unfair for Anna, who had returned his feelings.

Though, it had been a year since they had last seen each other, feelings don't last forever, especially between two who has never been in an official relationship.

And on the other hand, what had Ipas really done wrong? Despite her romantic episode with the blue ranger, she never knew about Anna's existence until now.
