Five blurs of color raced along the cliffside, moving briskly up the winding ledges. Mechanical beeps synced with their hurried steps as anticipation sped their adrenaline.

Lucy shook her head at her teammates, ending the call attempt as the signal flickered with their impossible height. They hadn't received a single word from Ray since the warning earlier, the special agent keeping his unnerving silence on the other end.

Sammy also clicked off his communicator, breaking his call with the headquarters. Their assistance won't reach them in time, they were on their own.

"They must have an entrance or two up there, right?" Volt broke the busy quiet.

"We've got a plan?" Hawk fought for breath. "Or no?"

The blue ranger sent a brief glance up the cliffsides, despite its towering length, they were beginning to reach the peak.

"Our best bet would be," he paused for air. "Back into the caverns, find our way down, and leave through the exact same entrance."

"You're kidding me, right?" Sammy panted, struggling to send him a judgemental glance despite the dash.

"My strategy worked back there, didn't it?"

A sudden burst spoke for the red ranger before he could object, and the group jerked as ground before them erupted into a cluster of crimson, lightning sizzling as they sliced the ledge in two.

The leading blur of blue barely made it across, tumbling headfirst past near demise.

"Nevermind!" He yelped.

Sammy peered into the frizzling crevice, and instantly recoiled from the sight. Dozens of the legion clung to the cliffsides below, approaching their height in a rapid pace. More familiar faces emerged from hidden shortcuts, scattering across the jagged stones like a pack of venomous tarantulas.

Their blazing glares were the same deathly red, each releasing dangerous currents in the team's direction.

Slowly but surely, the crimson statics tore apart the cliffsides. Hundreds of broken stone crumbled into the chasm below, yet failing to deter their enemies in the slightest. The closest few were already reaching for the ledge.

The group felt their skin crawl by simply witnessing the scene. The remaining rangers catapulted over the split ledge, racing after their leader.

"You're destroying your own hideout!" Hawk yelled as Max bore him away.

A third of the precipice collapsed in response, apparently becoming 'homeless' was the least of the army's worries. Trails of red chased the rangers up the ledges like slithering serpents, tracking their path as though they had eyes themselves.

"Did he dye his powers in blood or something—" Volt cried in exasperation.

"Shut up!" Sammy snatched his leader from an incoming bolt.

"The color, Pascal merged his electrical energy with—" Lucy's voice broke with another attack, releasing a flare of pink to deflect the sizzling red.

Those powers back in the cavern.

Their stomachs plummeted despite the race up. The rangers quickened their pace, stumbling on as they racked their minds for a survival plan, until the path ahead suddenly broke off into nothing, cutting their thoughts.

Volt, who failed to slam the brakes, nearly raced off the edge. Max quickly grabbed his shoulders and hauled him back onto solid ground.

Their struggle sent a loose pebble into the abyss, quickly lost in the misty depth.
