I lay in bed, sleepless and restless. The day just started, the sun peaking over the horizon. Sunlight peaked through my curtains as I rolled over to escape the light. I had work today but my body hated the idea.
I sighed before rolling off my bed and onto the floor. I lazily plopped onto the floor, the cold surface making my senses awaken faster.
"I don't wannnnaaaa work." I moaned slowly getting up. I stretched and walked around my room getting ready for the day. After getting ready I walked down the stairs with Tiny following close behind.
I walked into the kitchen spotting all of the gift baskets I prepared yesterday night for my new neighbors. Each basket had a candle, fruit, a cookbook, coasters, an apron, kitchen towels, and my phone number. You know, for emergencies.
I had 4 of them in total for my immediate Neighbors. I thought for a moment while staring at the clock. Would I have enough time to deliver them all before leaving for work?
I shrugged before quickly getting some breakfast ready for Tiny and me. Tiny happily ate his food as I gathered all my stuff.
"Goodbye, be a good boy," I said giving Tiny one last pet before walking out of the front door. As my foot stepped out of my doorway, a shiver ran up my spine. The feeling of eyes scanning my body ripped through me like a chill on a cold night.
I stopped for a second before shaking off the feeling and walking over to my car. I put down some things before looking around at the houses. All of the moving trucks were gone, being replaced by normal cars.
So I guess that means the houses were fully moved into in a night, impressive as it was creepy.
I picked up one of the baskets and left the safety of my yard to walk over to one of the houses. This house was darker in color, almost gothic in appearance. This was not Edith's house, but someone else named Ernest. He was a hermit I never saw unless it was the holidays, we started a tradition of exchanging gifts with each other. Other than that, I never saw him.
He wasn't a bad man, just preferred to be alone. I guess he moved too, even though he loved his house like it was his family.
I walked up the dark stairs but paused hearing some yelling deeper in the house. I wondered if this was a bad time but said screw it and rang the doorbell anyway.
I stepped back a few steps and waited hearing more commotion from the other side. The door swung open making my heart drop to my feet.
There in all his glory stood Yoshikage Kira, looking back inside the house with a cold glare as he yelled "Clean up that mess imminently! We can't have him stinking up the place!".
Kira huffed before turning to me with an annoyed look, but that face of the detained instantly went away as he recognized me.
"I apologize for that... rude introduction. May I ask, why are you here?" He cleared his throat, stepped out onto the porch, and closed the front door behind him to give us some privacy.
I was frozen in fear at the murderer standing before me but somewhere in my fangirl heart was screaming. I knew I should be scared of what he could do but anime lover soul was jumping in joy.
God intended for them to come into my world, but I never considered that they would be my next-door neighbors.
"Miss?" He asked reaching out to touch me. My throat tightened before I coughed and backed up.
