I quickly parked my car, trying to calm my heart down. Kira just gave me his weird hand-murdering girlfriend ring AND didn't try blowing my hands off.
I didn't know If I should count that as a win. On the one hand, he didn't take MY HANDS! On the other hand, he did give me a ring he gives to all his "girlfriends".
I looked down at the small metal band in my hand. The thought of putting it on crossed my mind but was quickly snuffed out. So I placed the ring into the bag with my fancy clothes, deciding to take care of it later.
I got out of my car and walked over to Town Hall. The building was large with painted white walls and a dark tiled roof. Almost no one came here unless it was for an event or legal business. Mostly for the events since these cold walls held nothing but fakeness within them.
An act of laughter and happiness hid the bitterness and jealousy all aristocrats had for these kinds of parties. That's how it was, any party held within these walls was sucked of their fun and made into a social jack-off event.
It made me sick imagining myself in the middle of it.
Or maybe that's my anti-social ass getting my panties in a twist. Who knows? All I knew was I didn't like being in the middle of it.
I made it to the ballroom, where the main event would be held. This part of the building was the only part I found beautiful. Intricate glass-stained panels painted the sunlight that leaked through the skylights making the dance floor light up.
"Oh (Name) you made it!" Simon called to me, already dressed in a suit. "What's up? Everything going to plan?" I asked looking around at all of the workers. Some were putting up decorations while others were setting out food.
"Yup, nothing of note so far. Though the Mayor does want us to meet some rich folks." He said glancing around for the woman in question. "Oh, why?" I asked having a familiar sinking feeling in my gut.
"No idea, God! Where is that old cunt?" Simon mumbled and like a spell, the woman appeared right behind him.
"Old cunt huh?" The stout round woman said rubbing his chin. "FUCK!" Simon yelled jumping back.
The Mayor laughed at that, watching Simon slowly turn to look at her like she was some kind of demon that appeared out of nowhere. Which she kind of did, scratch the demon part.
"So who are these folk you want us to meet?" I asked trying to cover up my laugh. The Mayor just started to walk away, expecting us to follow.
I glanced at Simon, watching him shrug, before we both followed after the Mayor. We were led through some halls before getting to her Office.
"They're just in here." She said before opening the door. I was met with familiar faces making my heart drop.
Jonathan and Erina Joestar were standing together just casually making conversation. Funny and Scarlet Valentine sitting on the couches in the room, giving each other a blank look. Norisuke and Kaato Higashikata were doing the same thing as the Valentines but standing.
The most notable character was the Batchelor himself, Robert E. O. Speedwagon, causally watching the Joestars conversate. I could feel my stomach start to knot with nervousness but it was quickly quelled as Simon placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Hold your chest high and take a deep breath." He whispered in my ear before sauntering into the room. I envied his carefree and oblivious nature for once in my life.
