(26) Rivis ran over to Swift and helped him up. Swift shook off his shell-shock and looked up. "Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my actions." The two stood back to back as they became surrounded by both the House of Kings and the Future War Cult.

The two stood between a tense stalemate. Both sides wanted what was in that container, and they would kill for it.

Swift's mind was racing, his adrenaline spiking. He had to think fast before him and Rivis were gunned down by one or both of the parties involved.

The Exo quickly unclipped the container from his belt and held it over the ground, his finger over the red release button.

The room fell almost silent. Guns were drawn closer. Everyone in the building was tense. Both sides began to negotiate with the pair, convincing them that they would let them live if they gave them the container. Swift had the key, but what could he do with it? If he gave it to one party the other would kill them. The crossfire alone would rip them to pieces.

Rivis slowly turned his head to Swift. He carefully whispered to him,

"Open it.."

Swift gave him a concerning glare. Was this really the only option? Open the container and hope for the best?

His mind tried to play out every other possible scenario. Nothing worked. He gripped the container harder as he looked over at Rivis again. The Vandal gave him a slow nod.

He took a deep breath and pressed the button.

The substance exploded out of the container and engulfed the two. A large sphere of energy spun around them, violently shaking the entire complex. Fallen and War Cult members alike were thrown to the ground.

Gales of wind threw objects around like a tornado. Swift and Rivis could see nothing but Taken Energy violently flowing around them. It was starting to engulf them. Swift looked over as Rivis seemed to embrace the energy, allowing it to flow through his body. The Exo relaxed himself as much as he could and did the same. The energy began to wrap around him like a blanket, slowly absorbing into him. The energy absorbed into him more and more until suddenly there was a bright explosion of light.

(27) The debris cleared. Suddenly there were two figures covered in Taken Energy. The Fallen and Future War Cult raised their weapons to fire. Swift quickly dropped to a knee and braced himself. Rivis violently punched the ground as a Taken Blight formed, shielding the two from the barrage of bullets. The rounds impacted the sphere but did nothing against its exterior. Swift looked down at himself as he was fully immersed in the energy. He looked up at Rivis.

"How did you do that...?"

"No time for questions, we need to go." Rivis readied himself in a running stance. "On my signal, go." Rivis formed a ball of the Taken energy in his hand, but much brighter than usual. He threw the sphere outside the blight. It lingered for a moment before causing a violent flash of light.

Everyone outside the blight was completely blinded. The two escaped the blight and sprinted down the hallway. The chase was on yet again as enemies began to gain their senses. The Kings were smarter this time. A Captain blasted two rockets into the roof of the complex, one caving in the exit, the other blocking off the Future War Cult. Swift and Rivis slid to stop themselves and avoid the falling chunks of concrete and rebar.

"New plan, we have to backtrack." Rivis generated another Blight that covered the doorframe behind them, delaying the Fallen in pursuit. The House of Kings were beginning to swarm them now that the Future War Cult was out of the picture. Swift and Rivis continued to duck and weave through a seemingly endless amount of corridors. The Terrestrial Complex was vast.
