Kierra:

I watched him run to his car and drive away, leaving me alone in the dark.

I felt a surge of emotions: confusion, anger, disappointment, sadness.

What was that all about?

He was about to tell me something. Something important. Something that sounded like a confession.

But then his phone rang and he left me hanging.

He said it was an emergency. He said he had to go home.

But what kind of emergency? What was so urgent that he couldnt finish his sentence?

And why did he look so scared and guilty when he said goodbye?

Did he lie to me? Did he change his mind? Did he regret coming here?

Or did he really have a problem? A serious problem that I didnt know about?

I wanted to call him and ask him. I wanted to hear his voice and know that he was OK

But I didnt.

Mike's Pov;

I drove as fast as I could to my house, wondering what was going on.

Why did James and Trevor call me like that? What was the emergency? What was the matter of life and death?

I hoped they were OK. I hoped they didnt get into trouble. I hoped they didnt do something stupid.

But I also hoped they had a good reason for interrupting me.

Because they ruined everything.

They ruined the moment I had with Kierra.

The moment I was about to tell her how I feel.

The moment I was about to confess my love.

Yes, I love Kierra. But she doesnt know that. She probably doesnt feel the same way about me. She probably sees me as just a friend or a brother or something.

Thats why I never told her how I feel.

But today was different. Today was the last day well see each other before we go our separate ways. Shes going to college in New York and Im staying here in California. If I didnt tell her now, Ill never get another chance.

So I decided to do it. I bought her a bouquet of roses and a card that says I love you. I practiced what I was going to say in front of the mirror a hundred times. I waited for her outside her house after dinner. And when I saw her walking towards me with a smile on her face, my heart skipped a beat.

She looked so beautiful in the moonlight. Her hair was shining, her eyes were sparkling, her lips were inviting.

I gave her the roses and the card and told her how amazing she was.

She thanked me and blushed and looked away.

I moved closer to her and took her hand in mine.

I looked into her eyes and told her there was something I needed to tell her.

She looked back at me and asked me what it was.

I leaned in and prepared to say those three words that would change everything.

But before I could open my mouth, my phone rang loudly in my pocket.

It was James and Trevor calling me on a group chat.
