Y/N's POV

In about fifteen minutes, we have the team coming over for dinner. We always do little get togethers outside of the Compound just to take the edge off and everyone takes turns hosting at their homes.

Today, it's mom's turn. But of course I'm still invited since these people are my family. That, and it's my house, too.

Since they're arriving soon, I quickly finish up my makeup and get downstairs to see mom in the kitchen, looking ever so slightly stressed.

"Hi!" I greet her as I stand by her side. She's currently taking a small break with her elbows resting on the countertop and her head in her hands. "You... okay?"

"Yep," she replies and stands upright again, allowing me to see the pretty makeup she's done for tonight.

"Do you need a hug?" I ask, she nods so I bring her into my arms and we hold each other for a few moments before breaking apart.

I spend the rest of the time before our friends arrive helping mama finish off some bits for dinner until it hit's six o'clock on the dot, and the doorbell rings.

Both mama and I go up to the door and open it. As per usual, it's Nat who arrives first with a shit ton of alcohol.

She quickly gets settled in and talks to me about all sorts, the only thing that stops her is when more and more people start to arrive. Before I know it, she's walked off to talk to Sam instead.

Pretty soon, the kitchen/dining room is filled and everything is going smoothly.

Seeing all the people together in the same room makes me realize how big my family really is and how much they're all here for each other. It's sweet.

WANDA's POV

"Witchy," Nat says to me as everyone's getting seated at the table. "This is amazing. You have literally everything prepared. Even a seating plan that's gonna cause hardly any arguments."

I chuckle slightly at her admiration. "Thanks, Tasha. I hope they like the food. Everyone has different tastes so it's all in the middle of the table to pass around."

About twenty minutes into eating, everyone seems to be getting on and enjoying themselves. More importantly, they seem to be enjoying the food which I'm very glad about.

However, when I look over at Y/N who's sat opposite to me, she seems a little off.

Like she's panicking but trying to suppress it.

When she suddenly makes eye contact with me, I take it as the opportunity to mouth 'what's wrong?'

In response, she practically drops her cutlery before standing up and running out of the room, going upstairs and into her bedroom.

Everyone looks at me with the same confused and/or worried expressions, matching mine.

Of course I don't ever want my daughter to go through anything alone so I excuse myself before rushing off upstairs to her room. I don't bother knocking and let myself in.

My heart shatters at the sight of her sitting on the edge of her bed with her hand on her chest and breathing rapidly.

"Babe, hey," I coo softly, walking over and sitting down beside her. "You're alright, you're safe right now. I think you're just having a panic attack. Can I touch you, please?"

She nods, so I gently guide her body to lean onto me and slowly rub my hand up and down her arm.

"Slow breaths, baby. Do you wanna follow mama?" She nods so I get to work on making my breathing slower whilst her head is against my chest.

"What's happening?" she rushes out through rapid breaths.

"It's a panic attack, bubba, it's okay, it won't hurt you," I reassure her as the lack of knowledge of what's happening to her is only scaring her more.

Instead of just holding her against me, I go further and lift her to sit on my lap, cuddling her tightly.

When I used to have panic attacks, Natasha would always hold me super tight and the pressure calmed me down. Hopefully it works for my daughter, too.

"I've got you, honey. You're so safe right now," I whisper, rocking us side to side slowly. Thankfully, that seems to work a charm as she manages to steady her breathing. "There we go, you're alright. Mama would never let anything bad happen to you. Do you know what brought that on?"

She shakes her head. "No, it just came over me randomly. I hated that, I'm so tired."

Instead of saying anything else to her, I lift her up in my arms and lay her down before draping a blanket over her. "Have a nap, sweetheart. I'll come check on you in an hour or so to see if you're up, yeah?"
