There's a saying heroes and villains don't go together.
A saying heroes are ones who protects you and villains hurt and terrify you.
Another saying bad people aren't deserving of good people.
However that isn't the case for the almighty VSF police officer Sonny Brisko, right?
"Y/n." Sonny glared at the person behind the metal steel bars.
There was no reply from the other side but there was a silhouette of someone sitting down with their head low.
Sonny's eyes soften at the sight. "Y/n, they said you're free to go."
"I feel like shit, please leave me alone sir." She finally says. "There were right, I deserve to rot in hell forever."
Sonny leaned against the bars and sighed. "Everyone deserves a second chance to change."
"This is my fourth chance. Do you know what the number four in some culture means?"
Sonny shook his head eventhough she wasn't able to see it. "No, I don't."
"Death."
"And I believe you still deserve a chance. They're offering you a free therapy."
"Really?"
Sonny took a key from his pocket and unlocked her cell. "Yes, and I will have to keep an eye on you during those period of sessions."
Opening the gate, he stepped in and looked down at Y/n who was sitting on the corner.
He extended a hand for her to hold. There was a moment of hesitation from her but she accepted it.
Sonny was happy for her, she finally accepted her chance to change.

With the blonde officer's help, Y/n was able to speak her problems with her therapist more and more in detail as the time passed by.
During those sessions, Sonny was told to keep and eye on her in case she does anything inhumane.
But the opposite happened, Y/n was speaking her problems to her therapist, she told him what drove her into doing things that wasn't even in her thoughts.
Some months have passed by, Sonny and Y/n mysteriously got closer to each other.
Every time Sonny gets to work, he would be asked the usual. "How's Y/n?" He usually would reply that she's getting better but today, his reply was different.
With a flustered face, Sonny replied to his coworker. "She's doing well." Then Sonny bit his lower lip, his face now in it's usual shade. "I hope."
"What do you mean you hope?"
Sonny panicked. He's not supposed to say that out loud.
"Well Y/n is under my protection so uh.. I decided she should stay at my place so I can keep keeping a closer eye on her." Sonny lied between his teeth.
His coworker hummed. "That's not a bad idea. I just hope you don't have any issues with her staying with you."
"Trust me, I don't."
He's right. He doesn't have any problems with Y/n staying in his home. He knows it's weird for an ex-criminal to be staying with a police officer but frankly enough, Sonny doesn't give a shit.
Hours had passed by and Sonny couldn't believe that he was for the first time, excited to get off from work.
He couldn't wait to return to his once empty, dull house just to expect a smile from someone who he secretly developed feelings for.
"Oh you're home early. I made dinner,"
He watched her expression change from time to time. Her once lifeless face that wanted to give up is now a face with light and joy.
Sonny gave her a chance and Y/n gave him a chance too, a chance to live and love.
