Chapter 10

Nico’s Pov

He let Maree drag him over to the table where Hazel was sitting with the rest of the seven and Calypso. He wasn't in the mood for campfire tonight or any night really. But it was Maree's first night and she wanted him there so he'll just have to deal with it.

"Nicooo," whined Maree, snapping Nico out of his thoughts. "How was shopping?"

"Meh."

"Meh!? You went with Will and met a huntress, how is that meh!?"

"Because I'm a demi-god and weird stuff is normal to me."

"Fine, I'll just ask August and Will, look, they're coming over now."

Nico looked up from his half- sister to see the redhead warrior and golden medic coming over to their group.

"Hi Nico," greeted Will, giving Nico a bright grin as he sat next to Nico. "Hi Maree, come to me if you have any medical issues." Maree nodded as August sat next to her.

Hazel, who was sitting on the otherside of Maree, looked over at Nico and Will. "Oooo..."

"Hazel!" Nico sent a glare at his sister, face all hot and red. August and Maree were shaking with laughter and Will looked embrassed. Oh gods.

"So August tells me that you two ran into to empousi and they had no affect on both of you, why?" Maree asked, trying to hide a grin.

"I don't know why they didn't affect Nico but I'm bi so..." Will started but was cut off by Maree and Hazel's squeals.

"Omg, we support," they cried. Nico looked at the other seven who were shaking. He sent them a glare and oh lord, Jason was winking at him. No, he didn't like the sunshine medic.

"Hi, I'm Rachel." Somehow, the redhead Oracle had managed to creep up on the group and was standing near Maree.

"Oh hi, I'm Maree," Maree smiled at the girl but then moved away as green gas started spewing out of her mouth. "Holy Hera, I'm sorry if I caused that-" Maree was cut off by August putting her hand around Maree's mouth, effectively shutting her up.

The Oracle of Delphi opened her mouth and started the prophecy:

"One born of death, blessed by the gods
Leads the way to a heroes path
The seven, ghost king, hunter and medic follow
To the leaders dreams, hidden below
But beware, for a darkness rises
To snuff out the missing light and take the horizons
All who come must take this deed
But return empty handed
And loose a friend by autumn's first leaves"

Rachel would've falling in the dirt if it weren't for some other demi-gods ready to attend her. They carried her off and set her down at another table.

Nico looked over at Maree. She was shaking, her mouth free of August's hand.

"Hey-" he started but then all Hades broke loose.

Shadows rose up from the ground and started reaching for people. Screams broke loose as a few brave souls tried grabbing anything with light on it.

Annabeth jump up on the table and ran to Maree. She started shaking her but a shadow rose up and grabbed her. Percy immediately reacted to this and ran up to Annabeth to free her.

"Nico!" cried Annabeth. "Wake up Maree!"

Nico looked at his sister and saw her eyes were glazed over. He was about to launch himself over the table when a scream came over from his right. Will Solace had a shadow wrapped around his ankle and it was pulling him from the light. Cursing Nico ran over and grabbed his arm. Will looked him straight in the eyes.

"Shut up," growled Nico. "You go, everyone's dead."

Will nodded and started pulling against the shadow. Nico focused all his power on the twisted shadow. Suddenly it let go and sent Will flying into Nico’s arms, knocking both of them over.

"Get off me, Solace!" yelled Nico, his face burning hot. Will scrambled off Nico, rambling apologies.

They looked each other in the eyes. "Maree," gasped Will. Nico cursed. They ran over to the last place they saw her at. It was not going well.

Shadows had grabbed anyone closed to Maree and were dragging them away. Nico launched himself over the table and landed on Maree's left. He started shaking her, trying to snap her out of her trance. "Will!" he cried out.

The blonde boy rushed over to the siblings. "Can you stop this?"

"What do I do!?"

"Knock her out!"

"You're joking!?"

"Do it, it'll send her unconscious!"

Nico looked around at the scene. These people needed help. Fighting back guilt, he raised his arm and punched Maree in the jaw. Her eyes rolled back and closed. The shadows vanished. People can back into the light from where they were hiding or had been dragged off to. All were looking at the Hades kids. Clarisse broke the silence.

"What in Hera's name was that!?"
