A dull voice awoke me from the dark abyss I was trapped in for what felt like years.

"Prudence... Are you already asleep?" I heard my mother say as my bedroom door slowly opened and she slipped in closing it behind her.

"Are you ready for me to tell you a story?" Her soft voice echoed in the nearly empty room.

Letting out a soft hum as a rare grin began to spread across my face at hearing her voice for the first time in so long.

She pulled back the covers and laid down beside me as I wrapped my arms around her belly, while I let my head rest on her warm chest.

Moving my hair out of my eyes she smiled down at me as she said, "There she is, my little angel."

"What story are you going to tell me tonight?" I asked, stretching my arms as she rubbed gentle circles on my back.

"How about the disciples in the boat." She said, lifting an eyebrow. Snuggling into her arms I nodded my head for her to begin.

"Since we don't have much time I will skip to the good part." She said, pulling a strand of hair away from my eyes.

"A large storm began to rock the small boat. The men began to get scared of all the chaos going on around them. However in the distance they saw what appeared to be a man walking towards them on water." She paused as I rudely interrupted her, making her giggle.

"It was Jesus, but they thought it was a scary ghost." I said proudly.

"Indeed, now one of the disciples yelled out the figure, "Lord if it is truly you command me to you." Peter replied. Then Jesus said come. Now tell me what happened to Peter when he stepped out of the boat Prudence?"

"He began to walk on the water like Jesus, but he took his eyes off of him and got distracted by the storm. But when he started to sink, Jesus saved him." I finished proudly as I held my head up towards her smiling face.

"You would be the correct little one. However, like Peter we can't get distracted by things of this world or emotions." She said as she continued rubbing gentle circles on my back once more.

"It's hard sometimes, mother especially when Paige makes me so mad." I said in an angry voice that made my mother giggle loudly, then she smiled as she nodded.

"I know my dear prudence, but sometimes we must trust in the Lord to help us. How can he help us if we get distracted by little things?" She asked as she turned her head towards the door of my bedroom.

"Now prudence I don't have much time left. Always remember that God has given you a wonderful array of gifts that you can use. You have more love and kindness in the tip of your fingers than anyone I have ever met. Let the Lord guide you on your path and you will not get distracted."

She said as she placed a kiss on my head and made her way out of the bedroom.

"Mamma! Please.... Please Wait!" I shouted towards her fleeting figure as the bedroom began to blur into bright light.

"Shh. You're okay." I heard a deep voice say as an odd tingling sensation began to speed down my arm and linger near my hand.

The tingling sensation made my heart clam as I let my self drift closer towards the husky voice.

I felt the tingling sensation grow as my eyes began to slowly drift open.

Blinking rapidly I tried to get my eyes to focus on where the sunday ion was coming from.

Once I was able to make out small details of what appeared to me a large hand holding mine, rubbing gentle circles against my wrist.

Lifting my gaze I let it drift lazily up the large hand towards muscular shoulders.
