"I'm coming with you tonight

"I'm coming with you tonight." Lance breaks the news as soon as he slips into the car.

Of course he is.

He's curious about how I know Max, and I know him well enough to know that's the only reason he changed his mind.

I wonder if he'd prefer Max to Chad?

Fucking hell, where did that come from?

Chad and Lance have never got along. Those two mix like oil and water, something I'm sure has only amplified after the events of the last few months.

Shaking those thoughts from my mind, "You think can hang?" I tease my brother with a light punch to the arm. Lance has always been so focused on driving, he never really went through a partying phase. Whereas I have definitely racked up more hours in the club than he has behind the wheel.

If I'm honest, I've always been scared I'll look back and have regrets. Wish I had done more... Wish I had crazy stories to tell my grandkids. I'm determined to live, not just survive. I always have been and that has been both a blessing and a curse, landing me many epic stories but also many oh shit moments.

"Oh, I can drink you under the table baby sis." Lance talks a big game without looking up from his phone.

Eh, I doubt that much.

Guess we'll see tonight.

Testing has felt like a month crammed into a week, to say the least. Ferrari is cracking a little this year or so it seems, lagging behind the Mercedes. And Ashton? We're a solid third, trailing just behind the red car with our fastest model in years. Dad is so thrilled he actually cracked a smile. Lance is positively giddy. And me? I'm exhausted.

But we only have twenty four hours left in this country before we jet of to Spain to kick of the racing season and tonight I fully intend on blowing off some steam to let loose.

And letting loose we are, Lance and I clean up well and make it to the club in record time for the pair of us. I swear my brother is the only man I've ever met who actually takes longer than man to get out the door.

Amelia spied us the moment we walk in, "Cat! You're here!" Treating me as warmly as if we are old friends rather than near strangers. I love it. It's so nice to feel wanted, to feel known. We embrace like sisters, matching energies in a ball of satins, squealing and hugs. "We're dancing! Ce
join us." She tugs my arm to pull me towards the stairs but I've got to make a stop first.

I've got a very important date with a gin and tonic tonight. "Soon! I need a drink." We swap knowing glances and she drop my hand for now.

I fully intend on dancing the night away but I also fully intend on doing that with a drink in hand.

"So, you know Amelia too?" The brother I'd nearly forgotten was there speaks up.

"Oh Lance, didn't daddy teach you how important networking is," My voice is dripping with sarcasm as I skim the room for any sign of Max. My heart shouldn't sink at the realization, but it does anyways. Drink safely ordered I turn back to Lance with a better explanation. "I'm kidding. We met at a club in Monaco."
