"What do you think of this piece Joon?" Luna asks, stating ahead at the creepy painting labeled, "Death is Not the End.""I think I didn't consider how much of a distraction you could be," he says making her frown and look back at him.
"What am I doing that's so distracting?" she asks, too caught up in the exhibit to get what he was implying.
"This outfit, the shorts specially, fit just right," he smirks, grabbing her hips and resting his chin on top of her head.
She looks down at her outfit and giggles. She thought it was rather simple—a black, backless, high necked t-shirt, denim shorts that hit mid thigh, a small crossbody purse, and some cute, black loafers on her feet. Cute and stylish, but also comfortable. She hadn't anticipated that it would get this reaction when she picked it out.
"Well excuse me sir, I though this outfit was tame," she chuckles and she could feel him do the same.
"I suppose it is, but there's something about it on you....I love it," he says, making her smile, butterflies stirring in her belly.
"Well thank you, I'm flattered," she says as he rests his hands on her shoulders.
He kisses her temple in response and makes an effort to actually examine the piece she was referring to.
"It's exquisitely done, but it's kind of creepy," he says as his eyes trail over the entwined skeletons holding spears and surrounded by ancient looking serpents.
"It really is. This whole exhibit is giving this vibe. Who knew that a mix of Tibetan Buddhism and Christianity would be depicted so darkly? It's interesting though," she says.
"Religious pieces are usually either very bright or very dark. There doesn't seem to be an in between in my opinion," he says, guiding her to the next piece.
They explore the Rubin Museum of Art thoroughly and discuss a number of pieces that caught their eyes before they head out to their next activity. They'd checked out a smaller museum before this one and it was now time for lunch. There was a popular pizzeria just around the block, so they decide to walk, plain clothes security shadowing them.
They swing their arms between them and giggle at the few people the double take upon seeing them. Thankfully the street wasn't too busy, just a few people rushing about or strolling with their partners as well.
"This is nice," Joon says and Luna nods.
"It is," she agrees, looking up at the overcast sky.
It's the perfect temperature out and thanks to the lack of people, they weren't being bombarded or asked for pictures. It was easy to pretend that they were just a normal couple enjoying the day—truly a breath of fresh air.
The bell above the door to the pizzeria rings as Joon opens the door for her, letting her step in first. If the guy behind the counter recognizes them, then he surely didn't show it when they ordered—a slice of sausage and a slice of cheese for Luna, and 2 slices of pepperoni for Joon. Luna makes their drinks as Joon heads to a table in the empty establishment.
They both sigh after biting into their pizza, hungry after opting to skip breakfast.
"This is delicious," he declares, his cheeks adorably messy and full.
Luna laughs and grabs a napkin to wipe his mouth with.
"It is, what do you want to do for dinner tonight? I can cook or I could try to get reservations somewhere. I don't think there are any good food trucks around here, that I know of at least," she thinks.
