Derek woke with Stiles tucked into his chest, his arm clutching him close. He looked so peaceful, Derek didn't want to wake him. He carefully slipped from the bed. Stiles barely stirred.
The warm shower water felt good on Derek's skin. He had felt like a live wire for weeks. Now, though, there was a peace that hummed beneath the surface. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. The only thing he had to worry about now was the threat that still lurked in Beacon Hills. He didn't have any missed calls or urgent texts when he woke so he could enjoy the moment.
When he heard the bathroom door open, he couldn't help but smile. "Morning," he said from beneath the water.
There was a mumble from outside the shower. Derek laughed as he peered out to see Stiles with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth. He was stark naked, and his hair was in lovely disarray on top of his head. Derek was so in love with Stiles.
He turned back to the shower. "The world didn't end while we were asleep, so that's good," he said.
"Maybe it was waiting for us to wake up first," Stiles quipped.
A blast of cool air hit Derek's back as Stiles slid open the shower door.
"Got room for one more?" he smirked.
Derek's eyes raked over Stiles. His lopsided grin. His unkempt hair. His lean frame draped in the doorway. The moles that dotted his skin. There was no part of him that Derek didn't absolutely adore.
In lieu of answering, he grabbed Stiles' waist and pulled him into the water.
Stiles laughed as he clutched Derek's wet body, trying not to slip. But Derek's grip on him was too tight. He'd never let Stiles fall.
Stiles pushed a bit of wet hair that stuck to Derek's forehead. "You're in a good mood this morning."
Derek leaned in, nudging his nose against Stiles'. "Of course I am, I've got you."
Stiles bit down on his bottom lip, his cheeks flushed bright pink. This was a side of Derek he'd never experienced. He loved it.
Derek ran his thumb along Stiles' chin, pulling his lip from between his teeth. He dipped in, connecting their lips in a wet gentle press.
Stiles wasn't sure how he hadn't melted into a pile of goo yet. Maybe it was Derek's grip on him.
The kiss deepened, and hands started to wander. They'd had sex in the shower before, but this was already different. It felt...real. It didn't feel like rubbing salt into an open wound.
Derek's mouth on him was soft and slow, like Derek was savoring him. He took his time, touching Stiles with purpose and care.
The cool shower wall felt refreshing on Stiles' hot skin as he pressed back against it. Derek's face was buried in Stiles' neck. One leg was pulled up around Derek's waist.
"I love you," he said into Stiles' ear as he slid into him.
Stiles' still standing leg nearly gave out on him. "Fuck," he swore, his head leaning against the shower wall.
Derek smiled at the reaction. He'd dreamed of saying those exact words to Stiles a thousand times. He'd been tempted while in this exact position. He'd imagined the way Stiles would react. The feel of sliding into Stiles as he said it. The reality was so much better than he could have imagined.
Derek took his time. He'd teased Stiles before but that was different. Right now he was taking Stiles apart bit by bit. Peppering him in kisses, sliding into him and just holding, touching him just enough to make him squirm for more.
