MINDY AND ANIKA LAID in bed huddling close together in their shared apartment watching Anika's favorite movie in the whole world; pitch perfect.

"This shit is so boring" Mindy groaned as more singing coming from the tv filled the quiet room.
Anika rolled her eyes "This movie is legendary, plus Anna Kendrick is in it..and she's hot"

"You're not wrong" The girls giggled and continued to keep their eyes on the screen until a rapid knock came from their front door.

Anika and Mindy looked at each other unsure. It was nearly eleven in the night and with ghostface on the loose they didn't want to take their chances.

"Is it too late to pretend like we're asleep?" Mindy whispered and Anika shook her head and stood up.

They both made their way over to the door but not before Mindy grabbed the heaviest thing that was within arm reach which was a cooking pan.

The knocking only grew faster and desperate. Mindy slowly looked through the peephole and sighed in relief when she spotted Ethan.

Mindy open the door and groaned "Dude you scared the shit out of us! What are you doing here at.." her voice trailed off when she saw Ethan had tears running down his face.

"Oh my god Ethan what happened?" Anika who was behind Mindy the entire time, pushed past her and made her was towards Ethan who was still standing outside their door.

"I'm sorry I wasn't really thinking— I just needed to...you know what this was a bad idea. I'll just go to Quinn's apartment or something" Ethan sniffed before trying to smile that looked more like a grimace.

"Are you kidding? You're lucky that you even made here alive." Anika frowned "Why didn't you text me?"

"I-I forgot my phone back at the dorm and I didn't wanna go back in there because-" Anika stopped him, "Just, come in and tell me why you're crying, love" Anika grabbed his face with both of her hands and wiped his tears with her thumb.

She pulled him into the apartment. Mindy moved aside and closed the door after them. Anika sat Ethan on their living room couch and held him.

"What happened?" She rubbed his cheek with her thumb. "Well," He stopped himself when he realized mindy was still in the room with them and the conversation he wanted to have with Anika seemed difficult to have with her girlfriend in the room.

Anika could tell from the look on his face of what he was silently asking. "Hey Mindy, do you mind?" Anika asked politely. Mindy awkwardly stood there "oh! yeah! Uh I'll be in our room" Anika gave her a nod as a form of a thank you and once she saw mindy shut the door she turned back at her best friend.

"You wanna tell me now?" Ethan nodded and tried to wipe away his fresh tears.

"I was at my Econ class for a group project that I had to do with some classmates, which means I would've stayed out late. I texted Chad that I probably wouldn't be getting home until around eleven pm or so." Anika nodded along to the story.

"We ended up finishing the work early and by that time it was ten thirty. I got a ride from one of the group members and when I um..." Ethan's voice croaked. "I walked into our dorm and he was kissing some girl.

"Oh baby.." Anika held him closer on the couch.
"The worst part was that he saw me. He knew I saw and he didn't stop" Ethan didn't wanna allow himself to break again.

"Ethan-" Anika was cut off "I don't even know why I'm so mad because she had the deadest hair I've ever seen, it was pink and ugly" Ethan laughed bitterly before sniffling.

"Well first of all, you have every right to be mad. Your boyfriend was kissing some other girl while in a relationship. Second of all, screw him! There's so many other guys out there who are better for you. Sorry to mindy in advance but her brother's an ass and this proves that he's not right for you" Anika reasoned.

"But I can't seem to want anyone else but him, Nika" Ethan sighed, his eyes red and puffy. Anika didn't know what to say. "What exactly happened after you left? Did you walk here? Took a cab?"

"I walked."

"All men are so stupid" Anika playfully rolled her eyes, hopeful that it could bring a small smile on her best friends face.

Ethan laid his head on her shoulder and took in a deep breath trying to calm himself. "What are you gonna do next?" She asked.

"Break up." He said simply before sighing "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring you into this." Anika sat up "Anything that's important to you is important to me." "Thank you Nika"

"How about we get some sleep? We can have a little sleepover here in the living room. I'm sure Mindy wouldn't mind"

"If that's okay with you, then sure" Anika held his cheek. "I'll get some blankets from the room, wait here" Ethan nodded and Anika got up to get blankets from her room.

She entered the room and immediately grabbed Mindy's attention. "So, what happened?" Mindy paused the tv.

"Long story short; your brother."

Mindy rolled her eyes, of course he was the reason why Ethan was crying. She'll have to ask Chad what happened in the morning.

"Ethan and I are gonna sleep in the living room tonight, I hope you don't mind" Anika said as she grabbed extra blankets for their closet.

"Just make sure you get some sleep" mindy said from the bed. Anika nodded and gave her a quick kiss.

"I will, goodnight love." Anika walked out of their room and saw Ethan moving the coffee table away from the center of the living room so they had space to lay down.

They quietly set up their pillows and blankets on the floor and once they were done they got on their makeshift bed which was just two blankets laid on top of one another and tucked themselves in.

Anika's head was on Ethans chest and his arm wrapped around her. "Thank you, I truly appreciate you."  Ethan said after a couple minutes of silence.

"Of course E, any time" Anika snuggled closer "now hold me and keep me warm" her and Ethan giggled. He held on a little tighter and they both fell into a deep sleep.

Who knew that was the last time they would ever be in each other's arms.
