"SO YOU REALLY CANT COME?" Chad pouts.
"I can't, I've got Econ tonight"
"But the whole group is going"
"I knowww, and I really want to come but I also need to go to Econ today. I've been falling behind ever since these killings started" Ethan sighed. "But I'll stop by when it's over."
Chad immediately rejected that idea "Absolutely not, just stay at the dorm since it's closer, Just be safe out there, okay?" Chad grabbed Ethan's face and kissed his nose.
"I will" he smiled.
Behind them was Anika and Mindy watching them have this conversation and smiling at each other.
"Oh Anika!" Mindy caught the attention of the two boys.
"Yes mindy?" Anika pouted.
"Be safe okay?"
"Oh i'll be so safe" She nodded clearly making fun of the two boys.
"Can you not?" Chad asked.
The girls giggled and Mindy turned back to Anika ready to keep going.
"You promis-"
"I'm gonna kill you" Ethan deadpanned.
"But how would that keep us safe?" The girls giggled.
"You guys just ruined our moment" Chad groaned.
"That's what we're here for" Mindy shrugged before kissing her girlfriend on the cheek.
Anika stood up and grabbed her coat "Well boys, we're off to get some coffee for the group. God knows none of us are going to sleep"
"E, you wanna tag along since you're leaving anyways?"
"Uhh yeah" Ethan turned to Chad and gave him a hug. "I'll be fine. I'll text you when I get to the dorm" Ethan gave him a soft kiss which Chad returned gladly, before dashing out of the apartment with Anika and Mindy.
——time skip——
After Ethan finished up his class, he went back to his dorm and passed out as soon as he hit the bed forgetting to tell Chad he made it home safely.
Ethan woke up to messages of Chad.
At first they were messages asking if he was okay, that he was getting worried that he never sent Chad a message, then it changed to Chad telling him to lock all the doors and stay hidden because ghostface was in their apartment.
He mumbled a 'fuck ' and quickly shot up and got dressed to walk over to the apartment.
There he saw police cars and ambulances. He instantly passed the caution tape that was around the premises and walked to the scene.
He made eye contact with Chad and let out a sigh of relief when he saw he wasn't injured. But that wasn't the case for Chad.
"Chad.." Ethan walked closer to him but Chad walked towards him faster and pinned him to the car.
"Chad what the fuck?" Even though chads outburst was a surprise to him, he still kept his cool.
"Where were you last night?!" Chad was angry.
"I had Econ! You know this!" He was calm in chads grip. "I just fell asleep and forgot to text you.."
Chad stared at him for a couple seconds before letting go with sadness in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry ethan, I know it wasn't you"
"Chad it's okay.." Ethan grabbed his chin and littered kisses all over his face. "I'm just glad you're alive"
Chad stayed silent before he quietly spoke up.
"Not all of us are.." Ethan looked at him confused. Chad turned his head towards the alley where they were bringing out a body bag.
"Oh my god" Ethan felt like throwing up. This couldn't be happening, he didn't want to ask what he had in mind next. "Who?."
"Anika.." Chads voice drifted off. Ethans heart broke. The girl he considered his best friend was dead. He bit his lip which wobbled from trying not to cry.
After a moment Ethan spoke up "I gotta go check up on Quinn" Ethan tried to pass by Chad but he grabbed Ethan's wrist.
"Anika.. and Quinn. They're both dead" Chad looked at the ground and slowly let go of his wrist.
no. no. no.
"Ethan I'm so sorry" Ethan couldn't speak, he felt his whole world crumble right then and there.
"She can't be gone" Ethan felt tears run down his face. "I need to see her".
"Ethan I don't think you-" the brunette didn't hear him out and ran towards the body bags that were being pulled into the ambulance.
"Hey kid you can't be here!" A random worker said but Ethan didn't pay attention, he could feel himself hyperventilating.
He pushed through the workers and made his way to the body bags.
"Ethan no!" Chad caught Ethan and dragged him away.
"NO!" He gritted through his teeth. "Chad you need to let me go — please let me go" Ethan begged. "I have to see her"
"I'm sorry Ethan, but I can't let you see her, not in the condition ghostface left her in" Ethans knees gave out and he fell to the floor, more gently since Chad still had his arms wrapped around on him.
He was sobbing into chads chest. He lost two of the most important people in his life today.
Chad let him sob his heart out on the floor, he didn't do anything, say anything; just listend to the broken cries of his boyfriend.
Chad looked up and saw Detective Bailey looking at his son; conflicted. Like he was debating whether on saying something comforting to his son or if he should leave his son alone and drown himself in alcohol to forget that he just lost his only daughter.
