We tolled the soldiers and Ink to return to Teru and tell him that we have Kou, we are ready to strike a deal but if he ambushes us his little brother is done for!
Which obviously was a bluff we weren't murderers after all.
Soon the Mokke returned with an answer, he agreed to talk to us, no trap, no trick just friendly talking.
We left Cotton at the hideout together with the rest of Kou's friends and the other soldiers. We didn't want the battlefield to become too messy, this should go smoothly.
And so they lead us into the school hallway. There the Exorcist was leaning against a wall arms crossed and eyes on the ground.
As we approached his head turned in my direction he looked calm, with a frown on his face.
"So you really plan on keeping this up? Don't blame me for the consequences then."
He chuckled dryly before continuing
"So what is the deal?"
A shadow dropped over his face making his electric blue eye glisten.
"Ahum"
I cleared my throat I was shaking and the air seemed thin. My eyes roamed over his figure and then the hall something was amiss.
"We want your Katana and our comrade Bubble back! In return, we'll let your brother go."
I announced loudly to keep my voice from breaking while I yanked at Kou's rope making him jolt forward.
"How did you get yourself into this? I'm almost impressed."
Teru sounded disappointed as he looked at his younger brother.
"It's a...long story-"
Kou mumbled and I cut in
"It indeed is you can talk about it after we're done here. So go ahead drop your Katana and kick it over the ground to me."
"Who said I agreed to your terms?"
My heart rate rose as I heard him. Did he not care about his brother?
"I suggest you let go of him and I return your Mokke."
I took a step back, his offer was only fair but what if the Mokke suddenly was worthless?
My heart throbbed, I didn't feel like doing this. My lips felt dry as silence engulfed us making the smile that was growing on the Exorcist's face even more irritating.
"What if we don't care about the Mokke?"
Mint hesitantly cut in making Teru scowl as his sharp eyes cut to the Mokke, he rose a brow in doubt.
I swallowed thickly as the room temperature seemed to increase rapidly.
"Before we touch on that topic where is it even?"
His eyes crinkled in delight making anxiety pump through my rapid pulse.
In response, energy bursts rushed through my vanes preparing me for possible fight or flight.
His smirk grew as he raised a finger and answered
"Look up~"
My eyes stretched wide and mouth fell agape as our faces shot up.
I sucked in a terrified breath as my body shook and hands curled into a fist with anger or perhaps fear.
This convinced me, we were dealing with more than just a monster.
There at the lonely ceiling Bubble hung tied to a fragile-looking lamp.
Its body was pale and burned from electricity. The Exorcists bracelet was tightly wrapped around its tiny form, up to its paws and over its mouth, preventing it from screaming out for help.
The lamp lightly swung and started to flicker a bit. There was a good chance it would come down any moment.
We trembled in horror at the sight, too distracted to understand the movement that was taking place in the corner of my eye.
My brain switched on last moment and I gasped in shock as I saw the Exorcist with the sword in hand dashing towards me.
His eyes were fixed on Kou, it took a split second of realization before my hands sprung into action and I pushed the boy out of reach.
