I woke up to the sound of crunching and the crackling of plastic wrappers. Followed up with whispers.
"Focus, Idiot's."

"HEY- LEAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US!"
A squeaky voice echoed through the room and was quickly shushed from all sides. I sat up and looked through the darkness, I could faintly make out the shape of something round, pushing a stash of candy into its fur.

"Cotton?"
I questioned, my voice groggy, and all the heads turned to me.

"(Y/N)!"
They all cheered and ran over to me. They pushed themselves into the bars in an attempt to squeeze through, but sadly, MY Mokke Save Prison was doing its job a little too well.

"We've come to save you!"
Bubble exclaimed excitedly while Ink added with determination.
"We'll get the keys!"
I gripped the bars, looking down at them in pure joy and relief.
"I’m SO happy to see you guys!"

And that's when I noticed the looming presence behind them. Taller than the others, more human than any of us, Mint.
"You actually came-"
"I couldn't leave you locked up in the prison you built, could I? That would be too tragic."
He retorted stepping forward. I didn't know if to laugh or cry.

"...knowing you...."
I say with a certain awkwardness that was filling the room.

"Ok yeah, yeah. I get it!"
He crosses his arms and shifts his weight a little.
"But I'm here now. And I want you to think about this."
I arch a brow and study his face the best I can in this darkness.
"I can free you now and you can do whatever. Or you take this chance, set things right."
He says, now standing in front of me, the only thing between us being sturdy iron bars.

I opened my mouth to reply, but I couldn't, my throat tightening as I tried to think it through. Before I could speak, Mint gestured to the mokke.
"They,"
he said, motioning toward them,
"We could save you anytime if you change your mind."

I bit my lip, uncertainty gnawing at me.
"It’s been on my mind, and maybe..."
I swallowed my pride, forcing the words out.
"Maybe this is for the better."

The room fell into an uneasy silence,  but it was fine, he was smiling a soft, proud smile. Relief washed over me and I smiled back the best I could despite the tinge of sadness.

"This is it for our rebellion?"
Bubble asked its voice quivering in fear.
"All good things come to an end."
I said, stretching my hand through the bars to pet its head. Its paws wrapped around me and pulled my hand closer, and Ink joined in, clinging as well.

"Are you? No- no don't cry. We'll still be together."
I tried to comfort them, feeling the purple mokke’s tears dampen my skin.

"But… it won’t be the same."
Bubble mumbled, squeezing my hand tighter, its soft, squishy body trembling.

"Cotton?" I asked, noticing how it was just staring from a distance, silent.

"Huh? Oh—I'm fine! Whatever, not like I care!"
Cotton grumbled, though its voice was clearly shaky. Mint picked it up by the scruff of its neck, like a cat.

"Hey!"
It hissed, wriggling in Mint’s grip.

"Stubborn idiot."
Mint muttered, placing Cotton in front of me. I reached out and gave it a head pat, feeling its fur, soft like cotton candy. The other two patted its back, joining in.

"I’ll be out of here soon, and I promise we’re gonna cause a lot of mischief!"
I grinned, pulling my hand away, and they nodded eagerly.

"I’ll hold you to it,"
Cotton replied, and Bubble frantically nodded in agreement.
