I was back home. We have been for months. I was back with the lads and all of our girlfriends. We were sitting in the den whenever John looked at me. I knew exactly what he was waiting for.
I got up and walked into the kitchen, after a minute or two he was in there with me. I hopped up onto the counter looking at him.
"When you doing it Paulie?" He asked.
"I don't know yet," I truthfully answered. I needed to do this. I had to. It was for the best.
"Well, you can't just lead her on like this forever. You either need to make the move, or you're going to have to end it with her." I didn't like the thought of losing her.
"That's it. We're all going for a walk. I'm doing it," I said, my voice jagged from nervousness.
We walked back into the den. "Coats" I said. Everyone did as I said.
We walked out the door and to the diner where we met. Makayla looked confused as everyone knew exactly what was happening.
I knelt down. Makayla automatically gasped as she realized what I was doing. Reaching into my pocket I pulled the ring my mother was given by my grandmother.
"Makayla, will you marry me?"
She didn't answer. She just stared at me. My stomach dropped after three minutes passed and she didn't answer.
"Paul..." She finally said in a whisper. I glanced at everyone else and the went into the diner. "Come, sit," she said, walking over to the bench.
I knew what was coming. I put the ring back into my pocket.
"Paulie, you're a wonderful guy, and I love you very much. But I just can't marry someone who will never be home..."
The tears formed in my eyes and I tried to hold them back. "You can come with me though." I argued.
"Paul, always being on the move just isn't a life I want. I'm sorry." She leaned over to kiss me on the cheek but I just couldn't handle it.
I got up and walked away. I gave my heart to her and I felt completely shattered.
And that was the last time I saw her. Standing there as I walked off. Both of our hearts broken.
I'm so sorry for this everyone. I just have so much on my plate and I needed to give you guys an ending. I know I was going to make sequels but I just can't. I'm sorry all.
