Paul's P.O.V.
"Paul, how many people are going to be here?" Makayla asked sounding nervous.
"Over 70. Are you okay?" I was worried.
"Yeah, it's just. I'm not comfortable with people." She said.
"I won't leave your side. You'll be okay. I promise." I hugged her. I felt her tension relax. I grabbed her hand as we walked through the door.
The music was loud they were playing one of our songs. John came over and sang along. "Last night I said these words to my girl. I know you never even try girl!"
I backed him up, "Come on,"
He repeated, "Come on"
"Come on"
"Come on" he sang back
"Come on"
"Come on" he repeated one last time.
"Please please me, oh yeah, like I please you!" We sang at the same time. People clapped and John and I smiled.
"Bravo!" Makayla said clapping. I laughed.
"Want a drink?" I asked her.
"I don't drink alcohol. Can I have a water?" She asked.
"Sure. Would you like to walk over there with me?" I offered.
"I think I'll stay here and talk to John." She smiled turning in John's direction.
"Okay I'll be back soon." I promised.
There was a little bit if a wait to get the drinks. I got us both a water.
"Hey Paul!" I was stopped by a girl that John went with for a while.
"Hi Rose." I said searching the crowd of people for John and Makayla.
"How have you been?" She was wasting my time. I want to get back to Makayla.
"Good. Hey I got to go find someone. I'll catchup with you later." I rushed off.
"Rose is here." I told John.
"Fuck. I gotta go hide." He said. "Later!" He ran off.
"What's wrong with this Rose person?" Malayla asked.
"She and John went on a couple dates, he screwed her and left her, she's stalked him since." I laughed. "She's a little bit of a nutcase."
"You wouldn't do that though would you? screw someone and then drop them?" Did she think I was going to do that to her?
"No. I'm not like John. John is a little too caught up in the rush of being famous. I just want to be normal." I told her. "You don't think I would, do you?"
"Well, you're famous and twenty-two. You're out of my league. You could do the same thing to me." She looked sad.
I hugged her, "I wouldn't do that. I'm a gentleman. Not a monster. Not saying John is a monster. And I'm not out of your league. It's the exact opposite. You're perfect and I'm... look at me. You could do better."
"How can I do better than a Beatle?" She laughed and kissed my cheek.
"Come on." I grabbed her hand and pulled her over to dance.
The song 'Sugar Shack' played. I sang along because it was one of my favorites. "There's a crazy little shack beyond the tracks!"
"Everybody calls it the sugar shack!" Makayla sang back. We laughed and continued to sing along.
