You know it's too risky to leave these two, at any moment they could decide to leave and you'd have a tough time finding them. You decide to climb and make a nest in the trees, literally. Hermione does a tricky little spell and suddenly you are comfy in a nest of leaves and twigs. Ron performs the usual defensive charms and you are set for a night of spying. Only one thing stands in your way, you've had no water or food since this morning and you are beginning to feel the effects of dehydration and hunger.
Ron's stomach grumbles loudly, and Hermione chuckles quietly.
"This isn't funny." Ron whispers. "I'm starving."
"I can tell. Well, what do you want?" She holds up her little beaded bag.
"Hermione, how..." you begin to ask.
"I packed up all the essentials last night, including the canteen and your rucksack Harry. I figured it was better we keep them on one of us at all times," she answers.
"I love you..." Ron smiles.
"Yes, but only because I can feed you." Hermione can't help but grin back.
She reaches into her bag and pulls out the jerky, and some kind of dried vegetable. She hands you the canteen that she has refreshed with water, and you all begin to eat quietly.
Soon the anthem begins to play again, and the pictures of today's dead flash before our eyes.
Only four tonight: Cormac, Krum, Cedric, and Cho. Still four too many, but you can't help but be relieved to find that Ginny, George, Neville and Luna are still out there and still fighting.
Hearing a loud noise from below, you look down only to find that Crabbe and Goyle have fallen asleep and are snoring loudly below.
"Brainless" Hermione says again. "How are they still alive?”
"I say we attack them now and take them out." Ron urges.
"We could," you say, "But the light from our spells would reveal our location to anyone close by. I say we wait until morning, and if we learn nothing else from them, we'll end this."
"Agreed" Ron and Hermione say in unison.
It's Hermione's turn to take first watch tonight. You lay down to rest, but your sleep is fragmented by even more by dreams of those who have been lost. Hermione awakens you to take your turn, and you feel like you haven't slept in days. All is quiet, and you suddenly find yourself fighting to stay awake, you are just about to wake Ron early and see if he can take over, when you see it.
Hidden in a nearby tree you see something white. It can't be, how could she have gotten in here. But it is....it has to be...Hedwig.
Without thinking you whisper "Hedwig. Hedwig."
She turns her head to look at you, but you know immediately something is not right. This can't be Hedwig. She looks at you with bright RED eyes, and hoots, showing off sharp, pointed fangs on her beak. Spreading her wings you notice inch long claws at the end of each tip. You can tell she's ready to take flight, her eyes fixed on the spot where you, Ron, and Hermione hide. You only have seconds to react.
Should you: A.) Save yourself or
B.) Try to save your friends
