"RUN!" you scream to the others.
"Harry, what?" Says Ron coming up next to him.
Ron mouth stretches into a bloodcurdling scream and freezes in his tracks. You shake him and finally get him to move and you begin to run. You meet up with Ginny along the path and the three of you try to outrun the huge spider. Unfortunately, the giant spider is not alone, and his family joins the hunt for you as well. You zap spells at the creature, knowing they will only be effective if you hit the soft underbelly.
You suddenly hear Ginny let out a terrified scream. Turning you see one of the creatures has her in its grasp. You shoot spells at it, trying to free her, but it's no use. A cannon goes off, and you know it's for her. Tears threaten at the corners of your eyes, but you know that you and Ron still need to escape. The two of you are neck and neck, diving and dodging, but the creatures are keeping pace.
You see light up ahead, maybe if you can make it to the meadow and into the bright sunlight the spiders will stop their pursuit.
"Hurry, Ron!" you scream. "Get out of the trees!"
You sprint the last few yards, breaking through the edge of the forest. You wait for Ron to do the same, but he's nowhere to be seen. Minutes pass felling like hours. "Ron! Ron!" you scream. You haven't heard the cannon yet, he's still alive. He has to be.
BOOM!
"No, no.." you cry. Tears overcoming you this time. "No, not Ron...not Ron." But in your heart you know it's true.
You slowly get up and head back into the woods, as you suspected the spiders stopped short of heading into the meadow. There is no sign of them now. They must have retreated to their nest, now that they've; but you can't bring yourself to think the words.
It's now down to yourself, Hermione and Malfoy. At the moment, the only think keeping you moving is your desire that it be you or Hermione who makes it out of here alive.
You find Hermione back at base camp, with tears streaming down her face.
"Oh Harry! You're alive," she jumps up and hugs you tightly. "Ron? Ginny?"
You know she already knows the answer, but like you is unwilling to accept it. You shake your head, and she breaks down into a new wave of sobs.
You insist that you each eat and drink something to keep up your strength and calm your nerves. You're sure Draco will start hunting you now that he knows the odds are only two against one. Hermione prepares a salad with some of the greens she has collected, sobbing as she works. When you sit down to eat you notice that she has poured the water into two cups, when usually you just drink out of the canteen. You begin to remark on it, but it seems like a petty thing to talk about when you've both lost the two most important people in your lives.
When you finish eating, Hermione stands up. "Let's find Draco and end this."
"Hermione, are you sure.." you begin. But you know she's right; it's time to end these Games.
You stand up walking hand in hand away from the camp. Not looking back, not wanting to acknowledge what you've both lost. You decide to head for the meadow, sit out in the open and let him find you. But, before you break out of the trees, you begin to feel a chill creep over you.
No, not now, you think.
Then you spot them, dozens of Dementors coming in your direction, but not toward you exactly. Instead, they seem to be moving in a pattern, as if they were herding something. Suddenly Draco comes into view, but he is soon overcome. A Dementor reaches out for him, and slowly administers the kiss that will suck out his soul.
Draco's not dead, so he could still be declared the winner. Soulless, but a Victor nonetheless, if you don't do something soon. It's going to come down to you and Hermione. You need to decide quickly.
Should you: A.) Save Hermione or B.) Save yourself
