*STILL NIALL'S P.O.V.*

That night I lay in bed, tossing and turning. I liked El? That couldn't be right.. She was Harry's girl, and nobody messed with Harry's girl. Plus, I liked Laura!

.. Didn't I?

I was so confused. I mean, when I first saw El I could tell there was something different about her. How she didn't freak out when she met us, how there was a special sparkle in her eyes.. everything about her. Oh no.. I did have feelings for her. But there's nothing I could do about it, because Harry always gets the girl.

After laying in bed staring at the ceiling for what felt like hours, but was really half an hour, I got up to go get something to eat and maybe watch something on tv. As I passed El's room, I heard two voices giggling. My heart instantly dropped. I kept walking as a felt a single teardrop slide down my cheek. I can't cry over her, she's not even mine.

I grabbed the first thing my eyes landed on from the fridge, which happened to be a slice of pizza from yesterday. I look it into the game room and turned on the tv, flipping aimlessly through channels until I landed on an old black and white movie. It might seem silly, but I was one for the oldie movies. For a while, it made me forget about El. All this thinking had worn me out, so I started drifting off when I heard a noise at the door. It was her.

" I thought I heard noise in here, " she gives me a smile. " Couldn't sleep? "

I just shake my head, not being able to look up into her beautiful green eyes.

" Me neither, " she sighs, resting her head on my shoulder. To her, it was just a friendly gesture since she thought of me as her brother. Little did she know, to me it meant so much more. It was tearing at my heart until I couldn't take it any longer. Without a word, I stand up and walk out of the room. I find myself in the living room, and I sit down on the couch, flipping back on the tv. This time, I don't care what's on, I just don't want to talk to El. I can't be around her without my heart racing and my hands getting sweaty. Within moments, she appears and stands in front of me, blocking my view of the tv.

" What the h*ll was that about? " she asks, her hands planted on her perfect little waist.

" I don't want to talk about it. " I look down at my feet.

" Well too bad, you're going to. " she whispers, remembering it's only about 3 am and people are sleeping.

When I don't respond, she takes my hand and leads me out to the backyard. With her hand in mine,  I could feel my heartbeat start to pick up pace and I got butterflies in my stomach. I hated how she had this power over me, where she could affect me like this without even trying. It was pitch black except for the lights we had hung up on the trees, leaving a faint light over head. It was just enough for us to see each other.

" Okay, what's going on? " she questions once we reach the backyard. I bite the inside of my cheek, not wanting to say anything.

" I'm waiting. "

I tried to avoid her, but that obviously wasn't working. Slowly, I was getting angry.. not with her, but with myself. She had so much power over my heart, and she didn't even know it.

" Well? "

I let out a deep breath.

" El, you just don't understand.. " I trail off, running my hand through my messy toussled hair.

" Then help me understand, Niall! " she takes a step closer. I know she thought of me as a brother, but in my mind she was so much more. My heartbeat quickened as I bit my lip, taking a step back. Again she steps closer, and by now I'm wondering if she can hear my heart beating.
