'BOUT YOU
019

A week has passed since Wonwoo asked to court Isla, and now they are seated at the bustling coffee shop, a gentle hum of chatter forming the backdrop to their conversation, Wonwoo's gaze never wavers from Isla. The sunlight filtering through the windows catches the glint in his eyes as he leans in, his voice a soft melody, "You're an architect, right? Besides being a writer, you work as an architect."

Isla looks up from her laptop, her fingers pausing on the keyboard, her expression one of gentle amusement. A small smile tugs at the corner of her lips as she nods, acknowledging his observation before redirecting her attention back to her writing.

But Wonwoo persists, his lips forming a pout, a playful act of feigned neglect. "Come on, baby. Can you please talk to me?" He playfully implores a mixture of faux hurt and genuine yearning in his eyes.

A sigh that carries a hint of endearment escapes Isla's lips. Her eyes meet his, a silent understanding passing between them. "Wonwoo, I'm working," she chides gently, her tone carrying a seriousness that only makes him pout even more.

He leans back with an exaggerated slump, his demeanor one of theatrical surrender. "Are you staying here for good?" he inquires, keeping the conversation flowing seamlessly as if their words were notes in a duet they had been composing for a while.

Isla takes a moment, her gaze drifting to the swirling patterns in her coffee, before lifting to meet his gaze directly. Her voice is soft, holding a quiet determination as she reveals her plans. "Yeah, I'm staying here for good since my parents are moving to Los Angeles soon while I stay here in New York to pursue my dreams."

And then, in a moment that seems to shimmer with possibility, Wonwoo leans in closer. His voice drops to a hushed tone, carrying a dream-like quality. "I was wondering if you could design the house that I'm planning to have in the near future."

Isla blinks, her laptop momentarily forgotten as her attention becomes fully captured by the vision he's painted. "What?" She responds, her disbelief mingling with intrigue.

A gentle smile graces Wonwoo's lips, his eyes earnest as they hold hers. "Yes, I want you to design my future house," he confirms, and the weight of his words hangs in the air between them.

The corners of Isla's lips twitch, a mixture of surprise and delight playing across her features. She lets out a soft chuckle, unable to resist the warmth of his request. "You want me to design your future household?" She clarifies, wanting to make sure she's not caught in the midst of a beautiful daydream.

Wonwoo nods, his gaze unwavering, his sincerity palpable. "Yes. So please, can you design my future household?" His words are accompanied by a pleading expression, and puppy-dog eyes that tug at her heartstrings and provoke the sweetest laughter from her.

Unable to resist the playful allure of the moment, Isla relents, her eyes dancing with mirth. "Fine. Just tell me what design you want and how big your lot is." With a flourish, she presents him with a paper and pen, as though sealing their unspoken agreement in ink.

A grin tugs at the corners of Wonwoo's mouth, his eyes sparkling with a mix of gratitude and excitement. "Thank you, Architect Isabella," he teases, his voice a gentle caress.

Isla rolls her eyes playfully, a flush of pink gracing her cheeks. She shakes her head, feigning exasperation even as her heart flutters at the tenderness of the moment. And as the afternoon sun continues its lazy journey across the sky, their laughter mingles with the soft symphony of the café, crafting a memory that dances in the spaces between their words.

Amidst the creative fervor, Wonwoo's pen hovers over the paper, his gaze lifting to find Isla engrossed in her task. A soft smile graces his lips, his heart swelling with admiration for her dedication. With a barely noticeable nip to his lower lip, he finally voices a question that has been swirling in his mind, "Do you want to visit Elyse's grave?"

The question hangs in the air, a tender invitation that catches Isla off guard. Her eyes flick up from her work, surprise mingling with curiosity. A pregnant pause envelops them, and just as the stillness seems to stretch, Wonwoo breaks it with a gentle continuation.

"She'd love to meet the woman I want to be with for a lifetime."
