"Isla, come on. You know that we hate seeing you suffer through your academics," Sitting on her bed and hugging her stuffed toy, the woman named Isla couldn't help but huff as her mother kept suggesting she get a tutor.
"But, Mom, you know that my grades are stable," Isla grumbled, pouting her lips as she looked up at her mother. "Your grades are stable except for physics. My child, you're in 12th grade, and if you fail one class, you won't be graduating," her mother remarked, causing Isla to whine and kick her blanket like a child throwing a tantrum.
"Someone is acting like a baby," Hearing a voice enter her bedroom, Isla averted her gaze from her mother to her brother who had entered. "Joshua, can't you be the one tutoring me? I know that you're good at physics," Isla questioned her brother, who was three years older than her.
"Yeah, have you forgotten that I'm already in my third year of college? I won't be staying here and have to stay back at my dorm," her brother reminded, playfully hitting her head with a piece of paper he was holding. "But it's our winter break. We both know that you'll be staying here until the end of the year!" Isla cried, making him roll his eyes.
"And we both know that you wouldn't listen to me if I'm the one who will be tutoring you," he added, causing Isla to pout her lips and cross her arms as she huffed. "Darling, Joshua isn't the one who will be tutoring you. But, his friend is willing to tutor you," Isla's forehead creased, her gaze fixating on her mother, who was sitting at the edge of her bed.
"Who?" She asked out of curiosity, biting her lower lip as she awaited her mother's response, hoping for a particular answer. "Jeon Wonwoo, your brother's friend who is a year younger than him," Isla bit the inside of her cheek, trying to prevent herself from smiling as she leaned against her bedframe.
"You better be good to him. The last encounter you two had was you throwing a pillow at him when you mistook him for a robber who entered my bedroom a few years back," her brother recalled Isla and Wonwoo's encounter that happened three years ago.
"You weren't inside your bedroom, that's why I mistook him for a robber!" She defended, grabbing the pillow beside her and throwing it in her brother's direction, causing him to react immediately and dodge the attack.
"Wah, you're a different breed," Joshua commented, shifting his gaze from the pillow that had landed on the floor to his sister, who was glaring at him. "What?" He said blankly, trying to hide a smirk that was creeping onto his face.
"Why do you two always fight?" Their mother questioned in stress, huffing before standing up from her daughter's bed and sauntering in Joshua's direction to lightly smack his bicep, making the man groan in pain.
"You're older than your sister, so act mature!" Their mother hissed, turning her back on him and heading to Isla's bed to pinch her forearm, causing her to let out a cry. "And you, you're not a baby anymore, so don't fight with your brother!" Her mother scolded, stepping back as Isla rubbed her forearm where her mother had pinched.
"You should get ready, Isla. Your tutor will come this afternoon."
