Gazing out of the car window at the mesmerizing sunset, Isla gently places her phone down, a subtle smile playing on her lips. "Are you enjoying the view, Isla?" She hears the voice of the person next to her, prompting her to turn her head and offer a nod, her smile widening.

"New York is truly a sight to behold," she utters in awe, captivated by the radiant city lights that adorn the landscape. "You know, you're quite the sight yourself," the man's words catch her off guard, causing her cheeks to flush crimson as she playfully swats at him, her laughter filling the air.

"Focus on the road, silly." She chides with a chuckle, her gaze once again fixed on the scenery outside. The bittersweet ache of missing her brother tinges her voice as she continues, "I can't help but think about my brother, Vernon. It's hard being so far away from him."

Vernon's reassuring tone resonates as he responds, "Remember, you're here in New York to bring your stories to life, stories that your readers adore. You're pursuing your dreams, Isla, and your brother understands that." His eyes remain on the road ahead as he speaks, his words carrying a sense of conviction.

Isla's agreement is accompanied by a nod, her gaze drifting to the book resting on her lap—a book that recounts her own love story, embellished with a joyful ending. "And your art, Isla. Let's not forget how much they appreciate that too." Vernon interjects, a grin playing on his lips.

"Also, who's gonna tell your readers that your story of yours is based on true events, and happened to the author?" A teasing remark from Vernon dances through the air, prompting Isla's playful glare. "Oh, hush!" She retorts, feigning annoyance but unable to suppress her laughter. The rapid beat of her heart betrays her, however, as her mind races with thoughts of possibly encountering the man who inspired her character's leading role.

Vernon's soothing words wash over her like a comforting embrace, his voice gentle as he reassures her, "Relax, Isla. I know you're wondering about him, but remember, the United States is vast. The chances of crossing paths are slim." A sigh escapes her lips as she responds, "I'm not dwelling on him." Her head shook in denial.

"Find your happiness, Isla," Vernon's words linger, casting a shadow on her expression as she contemplates the meaning of true happiness and whether she has truly found it.

"Welcome to the vibrant city of New York, Isla!" With exuberant cheers resonating around her, Isla's joyful expression lights up the room as she lets out an ecstatic squeal. The champagne glass tips slightly, causing a playful spill onto her delicate hands, prompting her to take a step back, a beaming grin adorning her face as the contagious laughter of her friends fills the air.

"Your forthcoming book, set to grace the shelves at the year's end, will assuredly captivate your readers." Somi, her friend, enthusiastically declares, sipping on her glass of beer. "Absolutely," Lia chimes in, her eyes twinkling with fondness, "I was utterly enthralled by your previous masterpiece. I stayed awake until dawn." She acted like she was wiping her non-existent tears, accompanied by shared laughter.

Just as Isla prepares to respond to her friends' complimentary remarks, a subtle buzz in her pocket captures her attention, and she retrieves her phone to find her brother's call. This prompts her to politely excuse herself, seeking solace from the lively ambiance to engage in a private conversation.

"Hello, Joshua," she greets warmly upon answering the call. "What took you so long to pick up?" Her brother inquires from the other end. "I'm drinking out with my friends." She explains. "How was your flight?" Joshua continues.

"The flight was smooth; I practically slept through it." She responded. "Alright, I just wanted to make sure you're safe. I must get back to my patients now," Joshua bids farewell, a hint of weariness evident in his voice, eliciting a chuckle from Isla as she teases, "Take care of yourself, my dear brother." With a teasing lilt, she concludes the call.

As turns to resume her previous direction, only to be halted by the sound of a familiar voice, causing her to freeze on the threshold.

"Isla, is that you?"
