005Upon arriving at the bustling restaurant, Isla's gaze wandered, searching for their circle of friends. As her eyes roamed, they landed on a group of nine boys occupying the last table at the far end of the establishment, engrossed in their conversation.
Eventually, Isla and her companion strolled over to their friends' table, instantly capturing their attention. "What took you two so long—wait, isn't that Wonwoo's hoodie you're wearing?" Jeonghan asked, his forehead creasing as he noticed Isla using the hoodie to conceal a stain.
"Don't jump to conclusions, Jeo. Isla got cold, and we couldn't snag a single plushie," Wonwoo explained, hoping to dispel any suspicions. "Alright, whatever you say." With that, they claimed their seats, Isla next to Joshua and Wonwoo across from her beside Woozi, who gave him a friendly pat on the back.
After a while, the group called the waiter and placed their orders, hungry from all the waiting that happened. Half an hour elapsed, their food was served, and they began indulging in their feast while also partaking in alcoholic beverages to enhance their evening.
Seokmin, the designated drink distributor, had the brilliant idea of offering a shot glass to Isla, the only woman at the table. "Your turn," he grinned at Isla, catching her off guard with his gesture.
Isla was about to accept the shot glass when Joshua intervened, blocking her hand and giving Seokmin a stern glare, leaving him baffled. "For heaven's sake, Seokmin. I won't allow my sister to join in the drinking festivities with you all, knowing that no one will leave here sober," Joshua asserted, shaking his head while addressing the man across from them who is now pouting.
"Joshua, it's fine. I'm not a child anymore. I'm eighteen, remember?" Isla reassured her protective brother, who was wary of her drinking with his friends, aware of their tradition of not allowing the person to skip the shot glass when it reached a person.
"Pass it to me," Wonwoo interjected, taking the shot glass from Seokmin and downing the liquor in one swift motion. Isla was momentarily taken aback by Wonwoo's unexpected action. "I'll take Isla's shot. Now, pass this to Jun," he declared after emptying the glass and handing it back to Seokmin for a refill.
As the evening progressed, the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting deeper dusk upon them. Some of the members had imbibed a bit too much, resulting in their inebriation. Joshua, however, refrained from drinking, knowing he would be driving Isla home, along with the members who had a higher alcohol tolerance.
Laughter erupted as Soonyoung playfully attempted to kiss Dokyeom, who struggled to keep the tipsy man at arm's length. Amid the entertainment, Seungcheol posed a question to Wonwoo, piquing everyone's curiosity.
"Wonwoo, why did you arrange this dinner? Is there something you're not telling us?" All eyes turned to Wonwoo, who nervously bit his lower lip as he contemplated Seungcheol's curiosity.
"Well, first and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for you all joining me for this dinner I organized. I also wanted to share the main reason behind my invitation," Wonwoo began, taking a deep breath before elaborating.
"I've decided to move to the United States after this school year to further my studies and delve into my father's business," he revealed, shedding light on the motive behind their gathering.
Upon hearing Wonwoo's revelation, Isla's heart sank, weighed down by the news of his impending move to a distant country to pursue his education. The realization shattered her heart, knowing that they would once again be separated after three years of not being able to meet.
"When do you plan to return, Wonwoo-ah?" Mingyu questioned, breaking the silence that had fallen over the table. The room grew quiet as everyone awaited Wonwoo's response, which was met with contemplative silence.
"To be honest, I don't have a definite answer."
