An unknown amount of time has passed before Franklin opens his eyes again. He then rises to his feet and discovers that he is in some kind of containment cube.

"Where am I?" Franklin asks himself.

"The batcave." Batman says, causing Franklin to turn and face him and the rest of the bat family, who are standing with him.

"Listen... I don't expect you to trust me. But at least listen to what I have to say." Franklin says.

"You're the reason that the girls have been captured!" Nightwing snaps.

"Enough." Batman says, shutting Nightwing up.

He then turns back towards Franklin.

"Who was it that attacked us?" Batman asks.

"His name is Blackheart. He is the son of the devil." Franklin says.

"Why go after him?" Red Robin asks.

"Because his father is making me go after him. Seemingly Blackheart isn't following his rules anymore." Franklin explains.

"What is his goal?" Batman asks.

"He's after the contract of San Venganza and will try to use it to turn earth into a new hell." Franklin explains.

"How do we stop him?" Batman asks.

"You can't. I'm the only one who can send him back to hell." Franklin says.

"Like hell we would let you out." Jason says.

"Especially when you attacked us on the rooftop." Damian says.

"Leaving me trapped in this cube ensures the end of humanity, along with Barbara and Kathy's deaths." Franklin points out.

Batman then approaches the cube.

"Say I let you out of this chamber, what are your intentions?" Batman asks.

"Only to stop Blackheart." Franklin says.

"And then? Batman asks.

"Nothing." Franklin says.

"You expect me to believe that?" Batman asks.

"No I don't. But I have nothing left to lose. The deal I made with the devil ended up killing my parents. For the next 18 years I fled from here to Coast City, trying to find places to live. Then I decided to face my mistakes and ended up becoming the Ghost Rider. Now I have to finish what I started and then I go back to my life as a broken man without a home." Franklin explains.

Hearing the story hit something on Batman's mind. He still remembers the night that his parents were shot in front of him. That event is what turned him into Batman. Now he is standing in front of a man who has gone through something very similar but has gone through worse than he ever did. Now he seemed to be the only hope they have to ending Blackheart's reign of terror for good. His choice has now been made clear. He raises his right left arm and opens up a series of codes. He then types in the code into a software and it opens up the chamber, freeing Franklin. The rest of the bat family are shocked to see that Batman has decided to free him. Franklin then approaches Batman.

"Here's the deal, you stop Blackheart and I'll ensure that the police don't follow you for the things you never did. Deal?" Batman asks.

"Deal." Franklin says as the two shake hands, a truce has been made.

A short while later, Franklin arrives at the cemetery on his motorcycle. He quickly hops off and approaches the gravekeeper, who is sitting on a log.

"Figured you'd be back, bonehead." The gravekeeper says.

"Where's the contract? I can't end this without it." Franklin asks.

The gravekeeper doesn't respond and Franklin shakes his head.

"I'll check this whole damn place myself." Franklin says as he grabs the shovel that was laying on the floor.

Before he can proceed, the gravekeeper stops him.

"Stop there, kid." The gravekeeper says.

He then grabs the shovel and smashes the head of it onto the tree beside him, shattering it. He then pulls out something that was hidden inside the handle of the shovel.

"The contract of San Venganza." The gravekeeper says.

Franklin then tries to take the contract but the gravekeeper stops him.

"Hell on earth." The gravekeeper says.

"Now you're gonna have to trust me." Franklin says.

"And why is that?" The gravekeeper asks.

"He may have my soul, but he doesn't have my spirit." Franklin replies.

The gravekeeper then smiles.

"Any man who has the gut to sell his soul for love... you got the power to change the world. You didn't do it for greed, you did it for the right reason. Maybe that puts God on your side. Then that makes you dangerous. Makes you unpredictable. That's the best thing you can be right now. San Venganza's five hundred miles from here. We better get moving." The gravekeeper explains before handing the contract to Franklin, who is confused on the last part.

"We?" Franklin asks as he places the contract in his jacket.

The gravekeeper then whistles and within the fog, a horse comes running in, leaving Franklin stunned. The horse eventually stops next to the gravekeeper who hops onto the horse.

"I got one last ride left in me." The gravekeeper says.

The keeper then puts on his hat and immediately transforms into his own form of the Ghost Rider.

Franklin then smiles at the realization.

"Carter Slade." Franklin says.

Carter Slade nods in response.

"Can you keep up?" Franklin asks.

Carter Slade then transforms his horse into a flaming skeleton horse who neighs loudly following the transformation. Franklin then hops onto his motorcycle.

"Let's ride." Franklin says before revving up his motorcycle and transforming into the Ghost Rider himself.

The two riders then ride off into the countryside towards San Venganza. Both at equal speed, unable to outrun the other, as if they were trying to win a race to reach the town first, Leaving flaming horse prints and motorcycle tracks as they do so. Eventually they reach the outskirts of San Venganza, about two miles away from the actual town. Stopping, Carter Slade turns towards Franklin.

"Stick to the shadows." Carter Slade advises before grabbing a shotgun from the horse's pouch and tossing it to Franklin, who catches it.

Carter Slade then turns back towards where they came from as Franklin transforms back to human form, along with his bike. He then hears Carter turn back to normal and he turns to see him looking back at him.

"This is the end of the trail for me. I've got nothing left. I could only change one more time that I was saving for this. God knows I made my sure mistakes. Been trying to make things right ever since. Guess all I can do now is hope he sees fit to give me a second chance." Carter explains.

"Thank you." Franklin says.

"No... Thank you, kid." Carter Slade says.

His horse then stands on two feet while neighing before the horse gallops away with Carter Slade before the two vanish into thin air in front of Franklin's eyes. Franklin then turns back and faces the destroyed town.

"This is for Carter." Franklin says before riding towards the town.
