2. I'm.... a Vampire?!

~Athanasia POV~

Have I already said that I hate my life? Then I will do it again. Because Vanitas had attracted so much attention, we were thrown into prison. Noè had passed out and was taken away with us. And Vantias... He had the nerve to say that Noé and I were his partners! Well, and now I'm sitting here in a cell with the two of them. Nervously I sit in the corner and play with my strand of hair. But fortunately for me, Noé had woken up again. I didn't know either of the two men in front of me very well, but Noé at least made a nice impression.  

,,Vanitas.'' ,,Yes?'' ,,Can you explain why we're behind bars?'' asked Noé somewhat annoyed. ,,A fine question, me dear Noé. About ten hours ago, you were poisoned by the Eglantine due to your absurd antics. Then you face-planted by the roadside. You've slept like a baby ever since, nearly half a day to be exact.'' ,,Is that true?" asked Noè, turning to me. ,,Unfortunately, yes,'' I answered. ,,That about sums it up. You up to speed now?'' asked Vanitas. ,,No, I'm not.'' ,,Seriously?'' ,,You were the one who stole aboard the airship. I just happened to be there, so how did I end up in prison too?'' ,,He told the guards that we were his partners," I replied annoyed, earning a shocked look from Noé and an amused one from Vanitas.

,,My wallet's missing!'' Noé noticed. ,,They confiscated all our belongings.'' said Vanitas. ,,What?! The Book of Vanitas, too?!'' ,,Naturally.'' ,,H-How can you remain so calm?!'' ,,Wait, were you after my book?'' ,,No! My Teacher merely requested that I assess its true nature.'' justified Noé and stood up. ,,Assess, you say? That's quite a vague way for your teacher to word it.'' Watching the two of them was kind of fun if only I wasn't so cold. ,,Wait a second, Noé!" Vanitas started and cornered Noé against the wall. ,,Yes?'' ,,If you seek The Book of Vanitas, then you should join me. So why do you keep refusing to help?'' ,,That's true! Now I understand, Vanitas! Perhaps I simply don't like you that much!'' 

That was it for me. I couldn't hold myself together anymore and started laughing. Noé said it so innocently and at the same time with brutally honestly. But my laughter did not last long because I had to sneeze. Stupid cold cell. Vanitas seemed frozen. Somehow it also serves him right. ,,What shall I do? For my teacher's sake, I suppose I should go with you.  But what about Mademoiselle Athanasia?'' Suddenly Vanitas' attention was on me. ,,So your name is Athanasia?'' Hesitantly, I nodded. ,,Hmm.... It's simple, we'll take her with us!" decided Vantias. Huh what now? ,,Is that all right with you, Mademoiselle Athanasia?" asked me. ,,Well... I don't have anything better to do anyway, I don't know my way around here anyway," I answered and stood up.

Shortly afterwards, the cell door was opened by a guard. ,,Out. We're unable to hold you here any longer. This is an invitation from Count Orlok.'' And already we were on our way out. In the hurry in which the guard had kicked us out, I had grabbed the thin blanket from the cell. First, I was cold, second, my clothes would draw too much attention to themselves. ,,The Vampires likely came to an arrangement with the humans.'' Vanitas started. ,,Huh?'' ,,Come along. I'll show you the way.'' ,,Thank you. This is our first time in Paris.'' Noé thanked for both of us. ,,Is that so?'' Vanitas opened the big doors and Noé and I were greeted by flower petals in the air and a beautiful city. Noé and I looked around excited.
