~Athanasia POV~

After our little break in the abandoned warehouse, our fight continued, or rather mine did. Vanitas had sent Noé away and I just acted as his shield, because we had changed the place and Jeanne had found us. It was really lucky that my crystals were holding out against her flames. ,,Athanasia, that's enough," said Vanitas, who was standing behind me, relaxed. ,,Don't order me around! Do that, and I let you live." I replied, but backed off to his side. ,,Hand over The Book of Vanitas.'' Jeanne demanded. ,,Is that an order from your master, Luca? How disappointing. The young battle maiden who dashed across the battlefield, mercilessly exterminating her own kind... I heard it was a sight so beautiful that it made one shudder. But I never would've imagined you'd fall so low.'' said Vanitas amused. And there goes again with the provoking....

,,And your point is?'' Jeanne asked, ready to attack. ,,My point is I'm tired of playing with you.'' Vanitas replied, dropping his book. ,,Come to think of it, I've yet to introduce myself. My name is Vanitas. The Vampire of the Blue Moon passed on to me his name and his book. Yet I'm but a human! The Vampire of the Blue Moon once feasted on my blood. Thus imbued with some of his power, I was counted among the Clan of the Blue Moon.'' I knew Vanitas was saying this to intimidate Jeanne, but it intimidated and at the same time captivated me as well. ,,... I had wished to avoid having to use this power if at all possible, but... Hellfire Witch,  I shall make an exception and reveal to you my true form!'' Jeanne's eyes widened and she took a few steps back. It seems that what Vanitas did worked. Vanitas took off his left glove when a monster came through the wall and bit Jeanne in the shoulder. ,,As one might expect, it takes one monster to battle another!'' said Vanitas, who quickly picked up his book and inserted it.

Jeanne was lying in the corner of the open hall. Somehow I felt sorry for her. Vanitas should not have been so rough with her. ,,Stay right there and watch, O witch fallen to earth. Now it's your turn, slayer of nine. You take the form of a wolf and haunt moonlit nights, seeking the living blood of young women. Your malnomen is Loup-Garou, ''wolf who hunts crimson.'' I will have this man's true name back!'' said Vanitas simply. A brilliant blue light illuminated the hall and when it stopped the curse bearer was back to normal. ,,...So that's your true name, Bucolicus, ''he who composes idylls.'' ,,Uhm.... Vanitas, weren't we supposed heal him before the count?" I asked, perplexed. ,,Oops! You're right!''

,,That won't be necessary.''

Vanitas and I looked up surprised to see the Count's servants standing on the roof. ,,We shall tell Master Orlok exactly what transpired here.'' Vanitas nodded to the two and in the meantime Jeanne had picked herself up again. I didn't know why, but I stood protectively in front of Vanitas. ,,What the devil? I paralyzed you, and the Loup-Garou poison should yet remain.'' gasped Vanitas. ,,It is not... It is not over yet. I can still fight!'' Jeanne said in pain. Her eyes turned red again. ,,Noé, get over here!'' Vanitas called. To my surprise, Noé came out of the shadows and had the little boy hostage. Wait, that was not part of our plan! I was supposed to act as Vanitas' protection. That little .... he tricked me. ,,Master Luca!'' ,,Hellfire Witch, you do understand your predicament?'' Vanitas started and walked towards Jeanne. But before he got too close to her, I stood in front of him again. Somewhat annoyed, he looked at me, but continued.

,,..Should you make one false move, my minion shall snap the brat's bony neck in the wink of an eye.'' Vanitas threatened with a sadistic grin. Oh my God, what a jerk he is. Suddenly Jeanne grabbed my arm and looked at me, frightened. ,,No, don't! I am defeated and will hinder you no more. Do with me what you will, but... Do not harm my master! I beg you.'' Jeanne's eyes reflected many emotions, but I could clearly see that she was afraid of losing someone close to her. Sighing, I released her hand from me but held it reassuringly and turned to Vanitas. ,,Vanitas, that's enough. She surrenders,'' I said calmly. Vanitas looked at me surprised before I continued, clearly angry. ,,What the hell do you think of tricking me?! I never agreed to take the boy hostage! Besides, you just walk up to someone clearly dangerous like it's nothing. How am I supposed to protect you if you don't stay near me?!''
