The wind ruffled the sakura flowers, blowing them lightly off the branches of the sakura trees.

Ei sat on the edge of the mountain at the Grand Narukami Shrine; a small, pink fox cuddled in her lap. Her hand stroked the fox gently, caressing its ears as she looked up towards the sky. It was speckled with stars and clouds that night, as the moon shone down in a nearly cinematic way.

The fox shifted slightly, making Ei glance down at its now curled up position. She smiled briefly and rested her hand on its back, rubbing the fur with her thumb as she gazed at it-- lovingly, almost.

She sighed, her gaze turning back to the moon in the night sky. It was truly peaceful. Ei hadn't felt like this in a while. She closed her eyes and let out a small sigh, a sigh of comfort and release from being locked away from the entire world around her.

She stayed like that for a while. Relaxing, basking in the ambiance of the shrine, of the night. If only she could stay like this... but she couldn't. Ei was an Archon, of course, and she couldn't abandon her role as one. But then again, the Shogun always took care of things for her.

The only thing that made her open her eyes again is when the fox stirred again. She looked down at her lap once more to see the fox looking up at her, its ears perked up on its head, almost like it sensed that Ei was overthinking.

"Oh, Miko..." She sighed, a smile crossing her face as she pet the fox's head. "You know me too well."
