It’s Monday. Just like every other day, you woke up, did your daily routine, and headed to the office. But today… something felt off.
As you entered the company, an uneasy weight settled on your chest. The air around you was different—heavy, suffocating. You noticed the stares—piercing, judgmental, pitiful.
Everywhere you looked, eyes followed you. Some whispered behind cupped hands, others didn’t bother to hide their smirks. You tightened your grip on your bag and hurried towards your cabin, forcing yourself to stay composed, but inside… your heart was pounding.
You had just sat down when the door swung open. Yeji entered, her face pale with panic.
“Y/N! Are you okay?” she asked, rushing to your side.
You frowned. “Why wouldn’t I be? What’s wrong?”
Yeji bit her lip, hesitant. “You… you haven’t seen it, have you?”
“Seen what?” you asked, confusion swirling in your chest.
She exhaled shakily and extended her phone to you. “This.”
Your eyes scanned the screen, and your world tilted. Your breath hitched, hands trembling as you scrolled through the vicious article.

[BREAKING NEWS] — Mrs. Jeon Y/N exposed as a gold-digger wife.
Sources reveal Y/N's tragic past as an orphan whose parents died in a car accident at the age of five. Former guardians allege that she was rebellious, often stealing money and speaking rudely to them.
An insider claims Y/N cunningly seduced Jeon Jungkook, CEO of JK Enterprises, with the sole intent of marrying him for his wealth.

You felt your vision blur, heart constricting painfully as your hands trembled. Tears slipped down your cheeks before you could stop them.
Yeji, alarmed, immediately pulled you into a tight hug. “Breathe, Y/N! Come on, focus on my voice. You’re okay. You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s all lies!”
But her words barely registered. The betrayal, the humiliation, the sheer cruelty of it all drowned everything out. You weren’t even sure if you were breathing.
After a few minutes of Yeji’s persistent soothing, you slowly came back to your senses.
“Why…” you croaked. “Why are they doing this to me? What did I do to deserve this?”
Yeji cupped your face gently. “Y/N, listen to me. This is the paparazzi’s game. They don’t care about the truth. They’re fishing for clicks. You are not what they say you are.”
You took a shaky breath, wiping your tears. “Yeji, can you… can you please inform Jungkook that I’m not feeling well? I’m going home.”
“Of course. You take care, okay?”
You nodded, grabbing your bag and leaving the office. The moment you stepped out, the suffocating air surrounded you again. Every step felt heavier until you finally reached home.
---
You didn’t stop, didn’t greet anyone. You went straight to your room, locked the door, and collapsed onto the bed. Your cries were muffled against the pillow, but they were raw, unfiltered, filled with a pain you’ve kept hidden for far too long.

Jungkook's POV
I was going through some files when an employee knocked.
“Sir, Mrs. Jeon asked to inform you that she’s not feeling well and has gone home,” she said.
My brows furrowed in concern. “Alright, you can leave.”
I picked up my phone immediately and called omma, but she wasn’t picking up. I left her a message, informing her that Y/N wasn’t feeling well and to check on her.
But a nagging worry clung to my chest. Still, an urgent meeting loomed over me. Omma will take care of her, I reassured myself and dove back into work.

Time Skip — Evening
As soon as I reached home, I dashed towards our room.
The door creaked open softly. Y/N was asleep, or so I thought. I tiptoed to the bathroom, quickly freshening up.
When I came out, my gaze softened seeing her small frame curled up on the bed. But something was off—her cheeks were flushed unnaturally.
I sat beside her, brushing her hair gently. Leaning down, I kissed her forehead. It was burning.
“Y/N… wake up, sweetheart,” I called, panic lacing my tone. She barely stirred. Her breathing was shallow.
Without wasting another second, I called the doctor.
The doctor arrived swiftly, administered medication, and left instructions.
The entire night, I didn’t leave her side. I wiped her sweat, whispered comforting words, and prayed silently. Seeing her like this, fragile and in pain, tore me apart.

Next Morning
I didn’t go to the office. Nothing mattered more than her.
Y/N woke up late. She leaned back against the headboard, her eyes hazy but more alert. She noticed her phone and grabbed it, noticing dozens of missed calls and messages.
Her fingers fumbled as she dialled Yuri.
