I laughed

I laughed.

I laughed so hard that I was actually starting to cry random tears while grabbing ahold of the aching stitch that quickly developed on right my side.

Sitting down to dine with my mother on a humid dry night my mother drops a bombshell on me that literally shocked me into laughing riot at first then without hesitation soon turned into full blown emotional hysterics.

I mean, she has to be kidding me right?

What type of sense does it make for us to have to pack up all of our possessions to move out of the house that we have been living in for years now?

Then I see the sharp pointed look that my mother is giving me from across the dinner table. She is absolutely serious? My mom is never this serious? Wow! Just unbelievable!

Dropping my hand away from my side I stare over at her completely ass dumbfounded.

She can't mean it, can she?

But my entire life is here.

My best friend, my school, even my boyfriend are all here. Why would I want to move away from all of that?

"Mom please tell me you're joking?" I pleadingly whine over to her.

How does she expect me to just up and leave at the drop of a dime?

"No dear, I'm sorry but I am perfectly serious. It's no longer safe for us to continue living here Haze. We have to leave and we have to leave here fairly quickly." My mom, Stella, tells me remorsefully.

With our dinner completely forgotten, I angrily slam my fork down on my plate. Causing a loud clunking sound as I do. How could she do this to me? Have they found us again? I thought that we were safe from them, especially him.

"Why? It's been years mother. How did they even find us?" I question her miserably.

She shrugs her shoulder sadly at me then stands straight up from her chair to move over to the next chair that's beside me.

My mom gently grabs ahold of my hands within her own as she looks on at me forlornly.

"Haze, if I could change this you know that I would in a heartbeat. But I can't unfortunately. I saw one of his men in town today. Luckily he didn't notice me coming out of the floral shop but we can't stay here and take the chance of him finding you." Why does it have to be this way?

It so not fair.

Just because I am who I am means that I can never find a moment of solidarity peace. Not with him always trying to get his devious hands on me. It feels utterly hopeless.

"Where will we go?" I stress to her as I resolve myself to our bitter outcome, once again.

"I have that all set up for you. I have enrolled you into a private school, that host only supernaturals just like you. It's a very prestigious school that allows the students to border in the school for the entire school year. I think you will absolutely love it." She explains to me as she drops my hand away from hers.
