Chapter 2: Astra Erling

As I promised yesterday here is chapter 2, from now onwards chapters will be released fortnightly and the rough date will be at the end of the chapter.

As usual, all feedback is welcome however, remember this is not edited, don't be an Asshat.

Chapter 2: Astra Erling

Jayda opened an account at the bank like the guild suggested which was linked to her identity and guild card, she had a medium gold broken into smaller denominations and put most of what the guild had given her, as well as a few of the large gold coins from her father's sack which looked similar to the coins Jace gave her, into her account. The bank identified them as Ashford coins from about a decade ago, but the value was a little more than the current value of the struck coins of equal size because they were a little larger than the current struck coins, but it was fine the amended amount would be added to her account. The bank also explained that major merchants could deduct straight from the card, since her magic was registered to it, she just had to pass some magic through her card and indicate yes to make payment.

She left the bank, and her nose was assaulted by something smelling delicious. There was a line, so she joined it and waited her turn, when it came, she read the sign, minotaur skewers. 1 skewer for a large copper, Jayda handed him a small bronze and was given 10 skewers, 8 instantly vanished into her storage where they would stay hot and ready to eat before anyone noticed. As she ate the other skewers, she made her way to the inn Jace had recommended. She finished the second skewer just as she made it to the inn. Walking in she noticed a woman working on a sign board listing the menu for tonight.

"Mum," a voice yelled as they raced in with their arms full of a large crate.

"Tom, don't shout and don't butt in, more so in front of customers." The woman said firmly to the young man.

"But mum... I got us minotaur!" Tom exclaimed loudly, there was a crash from further in the building and a second woman ran out.

"Really minotaur, which cuts, how much?" the new woman demanded to know. Tom offered the box to her so she could see, there was a good chunk from the shoulder and part of a fillet.

"Also, apparently another minotaur will be available, not tomorrow but next day, I managed to reserve us an entire leg and same again what we have here." Both women considered the young man, it was expensive meat but with time they could advertise and charge non-guests more to cover the shortfall from staying guests as well as make a good profit.

The woman from the kitchen messed his hair, "Good work Tom, let's go finish tonight's dinner then plan tomorrow's menu." Both then started to walk into the back of house.

"Sorry about that, how can I help you?" the first lady asked.

"I was recommended this place by Jace." Jayda answered, remembering to drop Jace's name.

"An adventurer, welcome to Cat's Rest I am Kay, the owner. I will need your card to register you," Kay told her.

"Jayda," she said as she handed over her card and pulled out one large silver coin, she placed it in the waiting tray.

"D rank," Kay remarked a little surprised as she did a quick scan of the card before pressing it to a crystal device to register her, generally the guild only recommended this place to people who were C rank and above although the other condition was powerful, so the new guest was probably powerful and Jace wanted to keep them out of trouble. Lower ranked people couldn't afford to stay here, however, the large silver coin and the funds on her card indicated that she was more than capable of staying here.
