Wren's POV

I opened my eyes, my vision blurred slightly as I took in the dark hotel room. It seemed to be very early in the morning, yet weak sunlight glowed behind closed blinds. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I noticed that Derek was still sound asleep beside me, his warm arm wrapped around my torso, his face buried in my hair.

I smiled slightly as I felt his warm, slow breathing against my scalp. I gently detangled his body from my own, careful not to wake him.

He mumbled something unintelligible under his breath in his sleep and rolled over, his night black hair sticking up in odd angles. I stifled a laugh upon seeing his messy hair and smiled silently to myself as I softly kissed the top of his warm head.

I got up out of the bed and as quietly as I could, slid the sliding glass door open. I walked out onto the hotel's porch. I leaned out against the railing, feeling the early morning breeze ruffle my messy bed hair. You could already tell that it was going to be a scorching day by the smell of the summer morning air.

The vast sky was a brilliant mixed shade of azure and cyan, with seemingly no clouds to make an appearance. A light dusting of morning dew coated the metal and wooden railing of the balcony.

The sun had still yet to rise above the city buildings, yet weak, watery, early morning sunlight still made everything visible around me.

I gazed around at the scenery. The hotel was situated on the edge of the city, where wildlife met civilization. On the other side of the vast hotel building, was a forest filled with tall, old growth trees that were taller than some of the nearby shops.

The hotel looked out at the city, where bustling streets were normally crowded with people and tourists. Yet at the current time, the city streets were empty and vacant, the only occupants being a handful of stray pigeons, roaming the deserted area.

The smell of brewing coffee jerked me back to reality as it reached my nose. The sound of the sliding glass door opening behind me was audible, and Derek leaned over next to me against the railing, a cup of warm, freshly brewed coffee in hand.

He smiled at me, his black hair still messy. His deeply hooded eyes were drooping a little with sleepiness and his cheeks were slightly flushed from just waking up.

The early morning light shone behind his silhouette. His steaming cup of coffee was held loosely in his pale, green veined hand. The smell of the bitter caffeine woke me up slightly and sharpened my senses as the scent reached my nose. Derek sipped his coffee quite loudly,
"Beautiful morning, huh?"

I nodded, a small smile threatening to make an appearance on my lips. I turned my attention back to Derek.

The sun had began to climb a little higher into the sky by this point, and it made Derek's messy black hair and profile shine golden as the rays of the sun hit them. His soft black eyes were like liquid onyx, glittering in the early morning light. His sharp jawline was shadowed blue with dark stubble, his clothes slightly rumpled from him having slept in them.

He leaned over slightly, his eyes flickering down to my lips. I closed my eyes as I felt the soft press of his mouth against mine. His hot, wet tongue began to explore my mouth, his tongue brushing against my teeth every now and then.

The walls of his mouth tasted of bitter coffee as his hand went up into my blue hair, lightly tugging on it. The sun rose into the sky, hitting my back with beaming heat. Sweat slid down my back as we finally broke away, out of breath and slightly flustered. He smiled at me, his pink lips a little puffy.
