----------------Wren's POV
My eyes fluttered open and I instantly regretted it as blinding lights pierced my vision, created a throbbing pain behind my bleary eyes. I hissed in pain, blinking around at my stark white surroundings.
Where the fuck am I?My eyes started to come into better focus as I blinked. Suddenly the door opened and in walked a nurse.
Her sleek, honey blonde hair was tied up in a high bun. She wore some light pink lip gloss and a tattoo of a blue monarch butterfly on the base of her throat. She looked to be in her mid twenties with her porcelain skin, and she was really pretty with her warmly toned rich brown irises which had golden flecks in them.
Her eyes widened slightly as she saw me before giving me a warm smile.
"Oh! You're awake. Are you feeling up to a short visit? Your friends are really eager to talk to you."I nodded silently, the motion making my neck slightly sore. She smiled and backed out of the room, presumably to go fetch whoever I had for visitors.
A few moments later, the si-five Jocks ran into the room. Braden grinned down at me, his pale green eyes alight with happiness. He leaned over me, his hands on the bed.
"Hey shortie. How you feeling?"
I rolled my wyes slightly at the nickname, crossing my arms huffily against my chest.
"Terrible." I grumbled, making Braden chuckle lightly.Derek stepped forward and grabbed my surprisingly gloveless hand. He smiled down at me, kissing my forehead, making me blush slightly.
"I'm glad you're awake. I was worried for you for a while there."
Jason cleared his throat loudly.
"We'll give you guys a minute." He said, ushering the rest of the crew out of the hospital room, making them grumble quietly among themselves. The door slammed shut behind them loudly, startling me slightly at the sudden loud noise.Derek turned his attention back to me, a small smile curling the edges of his pink lips. He hummed quietly, running his thumb against the back of my hand.
"I know that Bradon already asked you this, but...how are you feeling?"
He asked softly, his black onyx eyes into mine intently as he patiently awaited my answer.I sighed quietly, leaning my head back against the hospital bed's pillows.
"I don't know...He's dead, isn't he?" I asked, silently dreading the answer.Derek slowly nodded, looking away. I felt tears flood my eyes and I bit my lip, looking down. I felt Derek wrap his arms around me and I sank into his warm embrace, trembling. He ran his trembling hand through my hair, murmuring quietly to me,
"Hey, it's okay. We'll get through this. I promise. "I nodded against his chest, looking up at his tear-stained expression. I sighed shakily to him as my stomach wrenched with soul tearing grief.
How was I to survive this?
Derek sighed.
"I know how you feel though. Every time I close my eyes, I keep picturing his pale, lifeless face. I keep thinking that this is a dream, because he was only alive like a week ago!"I nodded before freezing,
"A week? I've been asleep for a week??" I demanded, raising a questioning eyebrow up at Derek. He nodded, hugging me tighter against his chest."That's why I was so worried about you...there were times when I didn't think that you were going to wake up at all. I know it was only seven days, but without you with me it felt like eternity." He glanced down at me before laughing quietly.
"Sorry that got a little sappy." He chuckled, gently kissing the top of my head.
A smile curled and tugged at the edges of my lips. "Yeah, it sure did." I smirked, making him laugh. We both fell silent again, simply enjoying eachother's comforting presence. I leaned closer to Derek, closing my eyes as I let his warm body heat was over my cold form. Finnaly, Derek spoke again, his pale fingers playing gently with my light blue frosted hair.
"So...I'm really sorry to bring this up agin when I know that you probably don't want to talk about it, but the police kind of need to know. Who...?" His question trailed away into nothingness, obviously not wanting to speak the words. So I did for him.
"Who killed Jay?" I finnished for him, stretching out my legs which had began to cramp horribly. He nodded silently, watched my expression. I looked him right in the eyes, raising a single eyebrow.
"I think you know the answer to that question." I murmured quietly, fidgeting slightly with my bare hands. I sighed internally.
I miss my gloves.
He hesitated before nodded slowly in repsonse, looking away. He looked thoughtful for a few heartbeats, his eyebrows furrowed together in intense concentration.
Cute.
"Crayne?" He guessed at last, looking back at me momentarily see my reaction. I nodded silently, confirming his question. He let out a long sigh, running a pale hand through his glossy black, styled hair.
"I'm going to tell the police. Get some sleep though for me, okay? You have some broken ribs." He said, gently kissing my forehead before getting up off the bed to leave.
I nodded as he shut the door behind himself. I settled back against the hospital bed, deep in thought.
This was going to be a long night.
