Chapter - 40 The Renunciation Ritual (Part 1)

ALEX'S POV

I respect my father very much, love him very much, but right now I feel I want punch him in the face. I was in a moment where everything was faded and Mayas words reverberated in my mind, and the possibility of a certain consequence of her words filled me with dread. Before she came back with the results of the blood samples, Mikael and I had a kind of non verbal chat through our eyes. the emotional damage  was there in HIS eyes, the aloofness to everything was also present. HIS eyes told me that HE wanted me to feel guilty for not coming clean about the fact that we are mates. HIM pulling himself apart from me is the result of my silly actions. HE deliberately mentioned HIS son because HE knows that a defiled omega who has a son will not be accepted as the Royal Luna. And HE has no wish of becoming one.

And now my father gave  HIM a set of choices that he wants, beautifully placed in a platter. Dad should've waited for me to give the verdict, why did he have to be in a hurry. Me blurting out like this was so out of character right now. I can not behave like this as the AlphaKing. we must put up a united front so as to prevent any kind of difficult situations. "I am sorry My King for speaking like this, but the verdicts have always been given out by either the former King. after stepping down from the throne the former Alpha becomes the judge of the pack and gives out verdict for cases like this one and many more. I was merely carrying out my duty. If you do not agree with me then please, speak what is to be done. " My father utter these words to me. It feels so awkward to hear him talk like that to me, his son. But outside to the world we are not father and son but the Judge and Alpha of a pack.

I don't know why my eyes look at Mikael sitting there on his seat as if he is not related to any of this, too aloof to not notice. But is HE actually that aloof or is HE only keeping up the pretenses. While my thoughts are still in a peril when HE speaks,"I want nothing. Nothing at all. I will perform The Renunciation Ritual so that I will be free from the rules and regulations of the supernatural society. So I don't want any objections to my decision." 

My heart stops. My breathing stops. "Be free from the rules and Regulations of the supernatural." The mate bond comes under the rules and regulations of the supernatural. HE want to be free from that. Does the Renunciation Ritual has the energy to reduce the pain of rejection? Why does he want that? Everyone present in the room, except a few who maybe knew about HIS decision before, gasps and went in a shock, because The Renunciation Ritual is a very dangerous ritual. It includes the ripping of the pack link from your mind, which can result in mental instability. It requires enduring the lightening strikes. The no. of times one has to endure the lightening depends on the no. of years that person has lived in his/her pack. It also requires bleeding for a certain amount of time. All in all it is a ritual that makes the goosebumps of the most strongest of the being to rise up. It is feared among the supernatural, and the ones who perform them most of the don't survive and are freed from the circle the of life and death and rebirth, as for the one who did was respected first for surviving it, but then he turned mad because wolves inherently are pack animals. We need someone to care for and someone to care for us.

"Why do you want to perform such a severe ritual, son?" My father asks. "I have a very good life in the human world and I want to continue living it. Since the incident my tolerance for werewolves has been negligible. I can not tolerate their smell. So I don't want to be called back again and again to this society. For me that world is better." He Says. "What about your Family? What about them? Are you ready to be detached from them?" Mr. Greywind  asks him. "My family you talk about? A father who don't want me as his son and as for the woman who gave birth to me is too submissive in the relation with her mate that she cannot go against him. I don't need them, they never cared for me so I don't need to care for them. As for my siblings, I don't need to share blood with my siblings and with Maria to maintain relations with them. What I want is freedom from the treatment that I had to endure through the ones who gave birth to me. I want freedom from his manipulation. Through this ritual I will attain that." He says.

I am dumbstruck at this moment, unable of speech. I don't know what to say. HIS aura carries such confidence and determination, it renders me speechless. HIS words are as clear as crystal also blunt and carries undeniability. Even if you want to you cannot deny them. he says every word as if HE is the king of this world and not me. I am in love with him. My feelings for HIM have been growing with every minute, every second since i have seen HIM, felt HIM, heard HIM. The other councilmen are discussing with each other, murmuring and buzzing. Like me they don't want HIM to perform the ritual, but theirs and mine reasons are different. I don't want HIM to perform this ritual because it will close almost all doors for us to be together, But they don't want it because HE will become a rogue after the ritual and a rogue is not good in any way for any being in this world.

Rogue wolves are very dangerous. The more time they stay alone, the more they become mad with blood thirst. They senses are clouded with anti society aspects. They randomly attack packs, just for the sake of attacking. They kill people, just for the sake of killing. Their instincts become raw, more animalistic.  All in all they are not good in any way.  So no one wants to become a rogue, but here is Mikael who is painting a beautiful picture for himself of becoming a rogue. HE is saying that becoming a rogue and staying in the human world that is in no way better than us, but for HIM being rogue is being better than being with us. Being a rogue, being in the human is like heaven for him, being free for HIM.

"Do you even know what is the meaning of performing this ritual? Do you even know how much pain you have to endure to perform it? Are you aware with the process? What is needed for this ritual?" another councilman asked, Mr. Kimberley. "I am very much aware of it, councilman. thank you for your concern." Mikael answered in a second. " What about the mate bond? Do you not want a mate?" Mr. Greywind asks again. "Being free from the rules and regulations of supernatural means being free from the mate bond. You will still be connected to someone through the mate bond, it  just won't become compulsory for you to accept him or her. Are you ready to be alone for the rest of your life? you will be a rogue if you succeed the ritual. do you how much pain your mate has to go through when you will reject him? Maria, did you give consent for this?" My father ask to Mikael and to Maria, who is HIS grandmother as I am informed by Skylar.
