Morning rolled around and Carly and Sam made their way to their lockers.

Sam didn't say much about her breakup with Freddie, so Carly decided to do some digging.

"How did last night go?" Carly asked in a whisper as she looked around, making sure to not be heard.

Sam started placing books from her backpack into her locker. As she was moving books, folders and her emergency fried chicken thigh, she responded sassily, "How do you think it went, Carls? It was awful!"

Carly responded, "I'm assuming he didn't take it well?"

"He didn't. He was upset and then he sort of froze. I was crying. That may have been the hardest thing I've ever done in my life," Sam explained as she was getting choked up.

"Please don't cry, I can't deal with tears, I'll start crying," Carly pleaded in a bit of a panic, sensing tears about to flow. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. But if you do, we can spend some time after school today and you get everything out of your system."

Sam thought that was a good idea. She wasn't one for sitting down and talking about her emotions, but this time was different. She just ended a serious relationship. Despite the relationship ending on her terms, she still struggled with it. She also liked the idea of spending some alone time with Carly in a more serious manner. Sam thought that maybe she could open up to Carly a bit more than just the breakup. She wondered if she could explain her feelings to her best friend.

Sam pondered all day on what she would say in her vent session with Carly. Should She keep it all Freddie-related, or should she express her feelings for Carly? It was going to be a game-time decision. She would go with her gut when the time came.

School flew by and the dismissal bell rang. Sam and Carly loaded up their backpacks at their lockers.

"Have you seen Freddie at all today? I don't think he was here," Sam asked.

"I haven't," Carly responded. "Hey Gibby, have you seen Freddie?"

"He told me he didn't feel well and stayed home," Gibby answered from his locker across the hall.

Sam was relieved she didn't see Freddie all day but hearing that he stayed home from school felt like a knife to her heart. Freddie never missed a day of school. Sam knew that if he didn't come to school, he must've been completely heartbroken.

"I hate this, I don't know what's wrong with me," Sam announced with tears flowing down her cheeks. "I should love him, he never did anything bad to me and I broke his heart."

"Sam, let's get you back to my place," Carly said and she turned to Sam and placed her hand on Sam's shoulder. "We'll talk things through when we get there."

Carly's touch flowed through Sam's body and sent goosebumps down her spine. Carly's look of concern helped ease Sam's sadness. "She looks so cute when she gets concerned," Sam thought.

Part of Sam's issue was her conflicting feelings. She lost feelings for Freddie and she felt terrible about it because he did nothing wrong to her. While she had feelings for Carly, she wished she didn't.  She felt that it complicated things. It ruined her relationship with Freddie. Not only did these feelings conflict, but she felt she couldn't share them.

Back at the apartment, Carly and Sam hung out in silence while watching the Dingo channel as Spencer cooked up some spaghetti tacos for the gang.

"Tacos should be done in a minute. I made enough for us three and Freddie. One of you want to go grab him?" Spencer asked, completely unaware of what had happened the night before.

"I think Freddie is going to stay in tonight, he's not feeling well," Carly replied, hoping Spencer didn't ask any follow-up questions.

"Freddie missing spaghetti tacos?" Spencer questioned, completely shocked. "He's gotta be feeling awful to miss spaghetti taco night. I can't remember the last time he didn't show up for spaghetti tacos."

"The world doesn't revolve around spaghetti tacos, Spencer!" Carly snapped.

"If I hear someone say spaghetti tacos one more time, I'm getting out my butter sock!" Sam screamed.

"Jeez, both of you tonight with the attitudes!" Spencer screamed, visibly upset and confused.

"I'm sorry, Spencer. Freddie and I broke up. That's why he's not 'feeling well'. I'm still trying to process everything," Sam explained in a soft tone, clearly still feeling the guilt of dumping Freddie.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Spencer responded, understanding a bit more where the sudden outbursts came from. "Well, the food is done, so grab a seat. You can't be upset when eating spaghetti tacos!" Spencer shouted while holding up two hard taco shells.

The girls both laughed and made their way to the dinner table. Sam housed her meal as expected. Spencer finished his next and Carly, as always, was the last to finish her food.

"Why are you staring at me? Do I have food stuck in my teeth?" Carly asked Sam in a slightly embarrassed panic.

Nothing was stuck in Carly's teeth. Sam had just been caught admiring Carly. She loved the way Carly took tiny little bites of her food.  Sam loved everything that Carly did.  At this point, Carly could have vomited all over the table and Sam would have found it cute.

Sam thought she could throw a nonchalant compliment Carly's way and see how she reacted. It wouldn't be weird, Carly hyped Sam up all the time. This could be a good way for her to build confidence and express her feelings to Carly one day.

"Sorry, I was looking at your lip gloss," Sam responded, still looking intently at Carly. "Is it new? It's beautiful."

Carly's face lit up with a big smile. "Yea! I got it a couple of weeks ago and figured I would try it for the first time tonight. I know lip gloss isn't your thing, but you can try it out if you want," Carly responded, urging Sam that it was okay for her to act like an actual girl once in a while.

Sam's eyes locked on Carly's lips. She wished she could try the gloss by placing a kiss on her. She wondered what it'd feel like to finally kiss Carly Shay. She ran through hundreds of scenarios on how her first kiss with Carly would go down. It kept her up at night fantasizing about what could be. But again, this was not the time. But, maybe she could turn it into a joke and see how Carly reacts.

"Carly, I think it's a bit inappropriate to ask me to try the lip gloss that's already on your lips," Sam said with a sly look. "We're eating dinner and I'd like to keep my food down!"

Carly laughed and rolled her eyes. "You know that's not what I meant, Sam!"

"Enough girl talk, eat your tacos!" Spencer yelped.

Spencer and the girls finished eating. All three were full. Spencer leaned back on his chair, rubbed his belly, and let out a groan.

The food helped take Sam's mind off the breakup for the time being.  But now that there wasn't a pile of her favorite meal in front of her, Freddie crept back into her mind.

"I should go talk to Freddie. I'll be back," Sam announced as she got up from her chair and made her way to the front door to exit the apartment. Spencer and Carly wished her good luck and across the hall she went.
