(June's p.o.v)
I tapped my pen against my temple, quickly biting the cap off and placing a circle around a janitor job I had spotted in the daily newspaper I had picked up earlier this morning. I glanced quickly over the jobs I had circled. My phone rang in the middle of me circling a senior citizens nurse aid job position.
Ms. Bonds name flashed across my screen.
"Yes Ms. Bonds?" I asked in a fake pleasant voice.
"June guess what?" She asked in an excited voice. I just knew she was grinning.
"What?".
"I was able to talk to the Principal into getting you your job back,".
"Oh wow, I'm bursting with joy," I mumbled, sarcasm clearly in my voice.
"Listen June, you have no other option. The agency clearly states that if a foreigner does not find a job in three weeks then we ha-,".
"To send us back. I know," I said.
"So I set up a meeting today at 1:30. Be there at 1:20 if you can,".
"Fine,".
"Bye June, I'll check up on you later in the day,".
I ended the call. Once I ended the call I glanced at the time. It was 12:35. I sat up, leaving the comfort of my bed and entered my bathroom. I turned on the shower, letting the steam evaporate.
After I finished taking my shower, doing my hair, and getting dressed I glanced at my phone and it was already 1:10. Deciding to skip breakfast I rushed down the block to catch the bus. After another Ten minutes the bus stopped at the corner of the school. I attempted to jog in my Four inch stilettos that I thought would be a good look paired with my black suit. As soon as I reached the school ,the doors busted open hitting me in the face.
"OUCH!" I exclaimed as the pain in my nose increased. I immediately grabbed my nose. The door opened all the way revealing a shocked August. His dark brown eyes widened once he realized I was the person he had accidentally hit with the door.
"Shit Mane, Fuck. Aww Mane. Shit, Ms. Aiko. June. Aww fuck. I ain't mean ta do dat. I ain't mean ta open the do' dat hard, shit. Lemme see,".
August kept apologizing while I held my bloody nose. He reached his arms up, grabbing my wrist and pulling them down so he could examine my nose.
"Shit," He winced as he let go of my wrist. "Let me take you to the nurse's office,".
He stepped back, opening the door extremely carefully, then let me enter the school first before he followed behind me. The sound of my heels clicking against the waxed floor and the thumping in my head from my nose injury made my head hurt.
"Fa real, I ain't mean ta do dat. I'm re-,".
"It's okay August. Please, just stop apologizing. I have a headache," I groaned.
August didn't say anything, instead he looked up and I did too. Realizing that we had made it to the Nurse's office. Once again August stepped back, opening the door for me. I stepped inside, spotting the nurse at her desk.
"Um, Miss?".
The older nurse looked up, her glasses at the rim of her nose, she stared at me and then August.
"Oh my, what happened?".
"I had an accident, I bumped into the door on my way in. This young man helped me,".
I could feel August staring at the side of my face.
"Well let me have a look at it," She said, walking towards me, then using her hands to gently remove my hands from my nose.
"OH! Wow, sweetie I'm gonna go get you some ice. Just sit right there,".
She pointed to a nearby seat in another room. Once she walked away I walked into the room, sitting down. August came in too, sitting across from me.
I looked at him strangely before speaking. "You don't have to stay August,".
He scratched the back if his neck. "Uh, Ima just stay. Make sure ya nose Iight,".
I shrugged. "Okay,".
There was a long period of silence and it made me anxious. Every couple of seconds I looked out the door, in hopes of the nurse coming back but each time I looked she was no where in sight.
"What cha' doin' back hea'?".
I looked over at August.
"To speak with the principal about getting my job back,".
His lips curved into what looked like a smile.
"Fa real?".
"Yeah,".
"That's good, na' Ima see you more often,".
I raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want to see me more often?".
He quickly looked up at me, laughing a bit. "Nah I jus'. I jus'. Nevermind,".
"Tell me wh-,".
"I'm so sorry sweetie, had a student come in with a pencil through his hand. Here's your Ice,". The nurse handed me a zip lock bag filled with Ice.
I stood up, grabbing the zip lock bag. "Thank you very much,".
She smiled sweetly before turning around to leave. I did the same, exiting the Nurse's office. Behind me, August was towering over me. He backed up a little once I cleared my throat.
"Well Thank you, for staying with me,".
"Don't thank meh'. I really ain't mean ta-,".
"August it's fine," I smirked. "I'll see you around,".
He stared at me for a little while longer before he turned around and walked away.
