I quickly scanned my eyes over the test paper's I asked Melvin to grade. The paper's looked correct and I proofread them a few more times to make sure.

"They look correct, you can leave now. Thank you,".

He smiled while he stood up. "No problem, June,".

A silly smirk played across his lips as he walked over to my desk and stood there.

I stopped collecting the papers in my hand, and looked up at him for a moment.

"Yes?".

He grasped his chin hair in between his thumb and index finger while he smiled.

"You so pretty, for a teacher,".

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Thank you?".

"Damn, it's just a compliment," He chuckled.

I glanced at the watch wrapped around my wrist. "It's getting late Melvin, maybe you should head home,".

He shrugged as he slowly made his way to the door.

"Goodnight,".

I smiled briefly at the Goodmorning text Sean sent me, it was cute enough to have me smiling as I walked through the school's door, and into my classroom. I quickly looked at everyone, making sure I spotted all familiar faces. I couldn't help but notice that August looked extremely upset. His face looked permanently differentiated into a angered look and his leg shook repetitively. My eyes furrowed into a confused look as I stared at him, but I turned my attention to the rest of the class. Even though August' demeanor bothered me, I still had to do my job.

"Okay everyone open your books to page fifty five and continue to read. Our goal is to finish chapter seven today,".

Even though I was speaking to the class my eyes remained locked on August.

"August,".

His head slowly lifted until his eyes met mine and what I saw made my mouth slightly open. His eyes were watery, as if he was on the verge of crying. It was definitely another side of him I wasn't expecting.

"Can I speak with you outside?".

He hesitantly got up from his seat and made his way to the front until he reached the door. I walked over to the door, letting him step out first then I did the same. I quietly closed the door behind me.

August still had his head slumped down.

"August, are you okay?".

He sniffled, shrugging his shoulders.

"I'm coo, can I go back ta class na?".

"Listen whatever you're upset about you can talk to me about," I assured him, bending down a little in an attempt to see his face.

"I'm coo Ms. Aiko, fa real,".

I unintentionally grasped his chin and held his head up to get a better look at him. A tingly feeling shot through my body as soon as my hand connected with his chin. As casual as the gesture was, neither of us could deny that feeling.

I quickly pulled my hand away from his chin and he stared at me, his dark eyes peering at me.

His eyes slightly furrowed, as if he wanted to know if I felt what he felt.

I looked down, unable to look into his face anymore.

"Um- Uh we should get back inside there," I pointed to the classroom door.

He didn't say anything or give me a head nod, or any gesture. He slumped his head back down before he returned back into the classroom and sat in his usual seat. I stood in my designated spot in front of the class and continued with the lesson. Each time I decided to make eye contact with the class, August was watching me. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. I don't know why a student watching me made me feel uncomfortable, but it did. I had to get myself together.

"Focus june," I uttered to myself.

As class continued I realized that two pairs of eyes enjoyed watching me during class. August, and Melvin. I don't know why they we're watching me so hard, but it messed up my whole focus for class. I kept stuttering, and repeating the same things. Once class ended, I never thought it would, I was relieved. I plopped down on my desk and watched students trample each other on their way out. August and Melvin we're the last two students in class, and for some weird reason that made me nervous. But August walked out of the classroom, and he didn't say anything or even look at me but unlike August Melvin stayed.

His hazel eyes scanned me from head to toe quickly as he stood in front of my desk, his fingers rubbing along the corners of my desk.

I cleared my throat. "Do you need something Melvin?".

His head shifted from the desk to my eyes.

"Yeah. Um I wanted to ask you if you would like to come to a poetry reading it's a-,".

A smile slid across my lips as I shook my head no.

"Melvin that's really not appropriate for me to go anywhere alone with a stu-,".

"Everyone is going, well only a few selected students are going. The principal said it was a good idea,".

"Oh," I retorted. "When is it?".

"It's this Saturday," He responded as he grabbed a pen from a cup filled with different writing utensils on my desk, then he grabbed a blank piece of paper and began to scribble on it "Here's the address. It starts at 8,".

He slid the paper to me, again his eyes looked up at me.

"Thanks," I said as I stared at the address for a few seconds then shoved the piece of paper into my briefcase.

"It's gonna be fun," He spoke before he slowly walked towards the door, still looking at me.

I smirked. "Get to your next class Melvin,".

He smiled. "Have a good day,".

The bell sounded loudly and Melvin sucked his teeth as he ran out my classroom and tried to make it to his next class. I smiled lightly before I sat in the seat behind my desk and leaned back. I thought about the tingling sensation I felt when I touched August' chin. I thought about the way he stared at me. I thought about the way I was unable to look at him after what happened. I thought about how stupid I felt for thinking about any of this.

I leaned forward on my desk and buried my face into the palms of my hand.

"Get it together june," I mumbled into my hands.

A knock at my door sounded, causing me to lift my head.

At my door was Mr. Rosen.

"May I come in Ms. Aiko?".

I smiled. "Yes, of course,".

He smiled too, while he wobbled into my room then plopped down into a seat. The seat shook a bit before it stayed in place.

"I came here to speak to you about one of your students, August Aldon,".

"Yes, he's a student of mine,".

"He needs to be suspended, for assaulting a teacher. You're a teacher Ms. Aiko,".

"Oh I thought I cleared that up. It was an accident, I didn't want to suspend him. My nose is fine and it wasn't severe," I explained.

"Ms. Aiko it's the school policy. When you see Mr. Aldon tomorrow, please inform him that he's suspended for a week," He responded as he stood up and wobbled to the door.

"A week?" I questioned.

"Yes, a week. Is there a problem Ms. Aiko?".

I stood there in silence.

"No Mr. Rosen,".

"Very well, you have a good day Ms. Aiko,".

He left my room just as the bell for second period blared.
